Such a humble gent, had the privilege to have been in his company many times and sitting into the wee hours in his Seahaven hotel listening to his fantastic stories and his humour.
Also had the displeasure of playing against him many years ago 🫣

Richly deserved.
Very few have given as much to Hibs on or off the pitch, and no-one else has done so in both categories.Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Great news!
And, well played The Gordon's. They get Hibs! We're lucky to have them.

A great honour to a great player and my all time favourite. Had a wee tear in my eye when watching him reading out the letter.

That really is wonderful. I was blinking back tears at the way his immediate reaction was to think of his dad.
The club is doing so much right these days.

Just bought tickets in the Pat Stanton Stand for the game on Wednesday, would be no greater tribute for him to come out to a packed stand.

Was lucky to see Pat play at the very end of his time as a Hibs player, what I remember most is the anger around Easter Road when he was allowed to leave for Celtic.
I can't think of a more deserving recipient of an honour like this and even more fitting in our 150th year that he is a direct descendent of the club's first captain and was himself club captain in our 100th year.
Hopefully we will see a few more folk buy tickets for the RWE game on the back of this, coincidentally bought mine this morning.
Congratulations Mr Stanton

Was my hero growing up. Watching him play with the Tornadoes was my introduction to football. Met him many times in Edinburgh and London. Bumped into him whilst having a wazz before the League Cup final in 2007 and introduced him to a few members of this group. A true gentleman!

We may not have had the internet back in the 70’s but we had Pat Stanton!
I consider myself very fortunate to belong to a generation who watched him play.
A humble bloke too.

Those of us old enough and lucky enough to have seen Pat play saw a Rolls Royce of a player who led our club by example on and off the field. He was and remains my favourite Hibs player of all time and couldn’t be more deserving of this accolade. Well done Hibs on recognising and rewarding a true Hibernian legend.

We won the game though.
I played alongside Pats Nephew Mark Stanton for a while and he was a very useful midfielder too, Marks Dad, Pats Brother coached us for a spell too. They are a very talented footballing family and Pat was the cream that rised to the top.Last edited by Bridge hibs; Today at 05:11 AM.

I love the way they gave the news to Mr. Hibs. It was really moving. It was a beautiful decision by the club. Contrast it with his exit to Celtic!
I was devastated when he was sold to Celtic. As was he. Of course, like the rest of the support, I had no idea he hadn't asked for the transfer and that he was as shocked as I that Stein and Turnbull had done a deal sending him to Parkhead. Ah well, at least he got some silverware he wouldn't otherwise have had. No Hibs fan could have begrudged him that. It does make me wonder, though, if Eddie Turnbull had any concept of man-management skills. It was no way to treat any player, never mind a club legend.

My boyhood hero , no player has ever came close , was a privilege to see him play for our famous club. Thank you Hibernian for doing the right thing at the right time.

Good the club have recognised our greats with the Famous Five and Pat Stanton stands. Surely the West will be next for STF.
