    Terrible news.

Footballers and their fast cars... this seems to happen too often.

Utterly hideous news. To go from being on top of the world to what’s happened feels impossible to comprehend.

Can’t imagine what his wife, family, and Liverpool football club are going through.

The tyre blew when he was overtaking someone. Could happen to anyone.

    Completely disrespectful last line.

Absolutely horrendous, twenty bloody eight years old, devestating for his young family. RIP Diogo.

Has recklessness been reported as the cause?

    Very sad news regardless.

I recall Joe Baker was involved in a car crash with Denis Law when they were playing for Torino. Think it was a pretty flashy sports car which Joe lost control of. It put him in hospital for many weeks I think while Law was relatively unharmed.

It absolutely is sad news, nothing takes away from that.

But it's not the 1960s anymore. 'Tyre blow out while over taking' is an exceptionally rare and unlucky thing to happen in a contemporary super car.

My brother had a spring snap and puncture the tyre, that was just in a Ford Mondeo, travelling within the speed limit on the motorway. It certainly does happen.

Folk see the powerful car and assume the worst. We don't really know though.

Police investigations into fatal road accidents can go on for a while. There will be witnesses to speak to, potential post-mortem/cause of death to be established and whether any criminal offence occurred.

    It's grim news.

Happened to my wife in her citreon c4 last year going to dundee, these things happen, very poor comment from you IMO, some things are best not said, anyway dont want to take the thread away from what it should be. Huge loss for his family

I hate when you see a random thread like this pop up. You almost always know it’s going to be something bad before you click on it. I didn’t expect it to be as bad as this though. Absolutely tragic.

  15. #44
Jeez. Life is so precious and fragile. Sometimes when you see things like this it's a bit of a wake up call. His poor wife and kids.

Crikey, life really isn't fair sometimes. A young family and newly married. A successful professional athlete (mr reliable in fantasy when he played too!)...very sad news indeed.
It's hard to stitch my own back with these shaky hands
But even harder to accept the scars you left were planned

Absolutely devastating news, such a young man with his whole life ahead of him. Totally gutted and a tear in my eye as I watch and read the tributes on SSN. RIP Diogo and Andre 🥲. YNWA

So tragic any family having this happen, but it always seems magnified when it's a fit young man with the whole world at his feet with the future of him and his family assured through his talent, only to have it all taken away in an instant.

RIP Diogo and Andre and condolences to their family and friends.

    Such a shame :(

As a Dad to kids of a similar age to his I can't imagine how hard it is for his Wife to deal with it while also having 3 kids left without their Daddy.

I made the mistake of watching the link to his wedding video which he posted 24 hours ago. Really upsetting to think how these clearly lovely young peoples lives have changed overnight. RIP.
