I have a feeling that the best we’ll see of Boyle this season is from the bench. And that is a strong option to have as players get tired and the game gets stretched. I don’t think he has it in him to manage starts for the whole season, so perhaps the best way to maximise his strength and impact is from the bench.

That would mean another top quality striker to come in as partner for Bowie.

This is just my opinion. But to see the best of Boyle over the whole season, then I believe that would be a good approach. Obviously there will be some games where he will be a starter, just not the majority to protect his body.

Boyle is currently only here for another year and time will eventually catch up with him. I think we will be looking at spending decent money on a youngish pacy striker now as a replacement, giving them a year to bed in and develop.

He is unfit! I'm sure his somewhat slack attitude to training is why other teams won't pay money for him.

However he knows where the goal is, and is clearly a penalty box player. Derek McInnes surely knows this and would play to his strengths.

Critchley playing him deeper being the reason for his form is overstating things and simply Hearts fans excusing LS of any responsibility. His form was poor before Critchley arrived. Shankland has previously played deeper under Robbie Neilson with Josh Ginnelly as the most advanced forward and he was excellent there. The reality is he was miles off it fitness wise at the start of the season and then effectively downed tools towards the end of NC’s reign.
