How rotten is that squad - honestly don’t think a single one of them even makes our bench, except maybe Penrice. Hilarious how badly they’ve spent.

Whoring himself around anyone else that’ll take him one last time. It’s getting desperate now from both sides - this is their club captain who’s not on the training camp as clearly sees them as a worst-case-scenario. It’ll be announced as a JTA scoop though when he signs his 2-year deal.
It's really funny. And he's their club captain. Even if he does sign with them how motivated is he really going to be. They are a fallback option for him.

    But kabangu is super dooper

There is some amount absolute dross in that squad.

    Not even an exaggeration

Shankland not announced in their squad flying out.

    Maybe hibs have started talks

Plane can only carry so much weight before it falls off the end of the runway and the size of their squad plus their golf guy probably meant they couldn't fit any Johnny come latelys in?

Some outlets (DR being one) reporting he’s still not made his mind up and won’t travel to Spain for pre season camp.

He’s ripping the piss which is quite funny.
He'll sign. No other options. Can't run.

Without a doubt. This crap in the media about teams in England and abroad are in for him is guff.

He’ll be given a 3 year deal (at 30) and on mega bucks.

If they were guff he would have signed the deal already. As much as he’s ***** he’s not going to deliberately cost himself money without having options.

Maybe he could have or maybe it’s his agent trying to get Budge and co to part with even more cash!

At the end of the day those gullible clowns just cannot see they are his very last resort.

Astonishing given the work they needed to do with that squad they are taking a 28 man squad to Spain, they haven’t improved that squad unless some of the unknown super computer players (odds are 1 or 2 might) do well and still have players like Spital, Dhanda and co kicking about.

Taking them on a Spanish pre season trip indicates heavily that they have a future. Managing such a size of a squad while trying to put your mark as a manager for the first time is almost impossible. Not least it will cost them a fortune.

And they virtually begging Shankland to sign when it’s clear he doesn’t have any other offers but still doesn’t want to jump at the offer of a new contract.

BBC Sportsound and the mainstream media with have them 3rd place favorites “doesn’t Derek speak so well”. I would be willing to bet they are in for a bang average season.

That’s risky if he’s no other options that’s my point.

Hopefully we’re in for him, just for the meltdown over the road.

Ah sorry get you. It is but he knows those fools will leave the deal on table as they are desperate to get to sign on again.

    Imagine the scenes.

If Shankland does sign on again for Hearts, will we have to listen to them trying to flog him every window, as they have done throughout his previous contract, or have they finally got the message?

He's a decent centre forward at this level, but not good enough for the OF, most clubs in Scotland can't afford his wage demands, and no one will pay a fee for him.

Anyone who doesn’t want him now won’t be paying a fee for him when he’s at lest one year older and under contract. It’s probably now or never for him playing elsewhere except for a retirement gig.

The best thing about this situation is even if he stays, he’s burning any remains good grace he has with their fans by dragging it out. Sure, they’ll all briefly love him should he resign, but if he then has a poor start to the season again, they’ll turn on him pretty swiftly.

  18. #1727
Maybe he’s coming back to sign on for them just saying

  19. #1728
    If he doesn’t sign

Cue heartsound painting it as well this is a sign of the new hearts under McInnes etc etc

"The season just gone was less prolific and, as he approaches 30, Shankland is likely considering how many high-profile moves or high-paying contracts he has left in his career."

That's the only reference in the entire article to Shankland's by and large rubbish season just past. It almost goes out of its way to ignore that for a year he's largely been a fat pish huffy **** and a borderline hate figure.

Some mental gymnastics over on Kickback.

They only finished 6 points off 3rd (relegation group).

    McGrath and Mulligan are crap

A competent manager would have seen Hearts skoosh 3rd.

No Hibs player would get in the Hearts team.

Gray is just the same as Naismith in the season they finished 3rd (forgetting the non old firm record form we were in).

Why are they like that? Why not just accept Hibs are a cracking side? Silly pretending they aren't.

They're probably thinking they can play all 28 squad players at the same time!

hibs should maybe invite auld vinegar breasts down to the HTC, give her the guided tour to see what they’re missing.
It’s the way forward for all big clubs to have their own training facilities.

Can't for the life of me find where in Spain they've come, other than 'Spanish East Coast', so probably La Manga. I live up the road a bit, and the temp here as I write is 35C (Real Feel 41C), and there's no indication it's going to let up anytime soon. McInnes says "Double and triple training sessions"... I'm having trouble staying out on the terrace for 20 mins 🥵, and that's with a huge f off industrial fan. Mental time to be coming here... but I'm sure the 'analytics' thought it would be a good idea

They had to go somewhere. ‘Their’ training ground is probably rented out for summer camps and that type of thing next week.

Mcinnes will be on decent salary could end up like Aberdeen tenure at end esp with all the Cc bloom Budge and FOH and there 400 thousand fans input demanding they win everything 😆

Surely they can fit a few more in?

Kilmarnock must have some more of their bottom six squad that fit on their floppy?
