Quick-thinking display of common sense from Croxall. Pretty sure she's one of the female presenters who successfully sued the BBC for sex and age discrimination not so long ago, so she's clearly not worried about standing up for her principles.

The BBC report, saying "People who are pregnant....."
My understanding is that only women are capable of being pregnant, although Big Al had a baby in 2000AD many decades ago.

The ridiculous statement was due to be read on the BBC and the presenter declined to do so. Who cares where it came from, it was about to be broadcast on BBC national news.
“BBC News presenter Martine Croxall refuses to say ‘pregnant people’ as she corrects the teleprompter live on air and says ‘WOMEN’ whilst rolling her eyes at what she was reading”

Obviously this on-the-fly edit of the teleprompter has created a lot of social media discussion as well as a lot of click-bait articles.
Two things I've seen written by others over the last two days, generally, girls under 18 aren't classed as women.
Off course they are, but when stories or news is reported they are never classed as women.
Secondly, trans-males can be pregnant. That might conflict with some people.
Regardless, when J K Rowling wades in you know there's gonna be a pile on somewhere.
At least the presenter involved has made light of it and welcomed all her new followers!

https://goodlawproject.org/ehrc-form...t-stipulation/
The EHRC has now formally abandoned its contention that employers must provide single sex toilets following the service by Good Law Project of its claim for judicial review.*
“In relation to workplaces, requirements are set out in the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. These require suitable and sufficient facilities to be provided including toilets and sometimes changing facilities and showers.*Toilets, showers and changing facilities may be mixed-sex where they are in a separate room lockable from the inside.”There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

'One third of PEOPLE across the UK are overdue their cervical screeing...'
Bearing in mind that men don't have a cervix and account for around 50% of the 'people across the UK' does this mean a third of women or a sixth of women? In their desperation to avoid offending trans activists the Guardian excels at tying itself in knots.
As ever, JK Rowling is spot on:
“This is what happens when you erase the word ‘woman’ from your reporting: you disseminate inaccuracies and falsehoods. If you prioritise an ideology over giving clear and accurate information, you aren’t journalists, you’re propagandists.”

A third of 'people', Really? Well, that's not so bad because 50% of 'people' across the UK are men, right? And they won't get cervical cancer because they don't have a cervix.
So only a sixth of people across the UK are endangered by this low-uptake of screening? Phew. Perhaps, then, it doesn't matter so much if the guardian writes bull**** misleading copy on the subject.

He transitioned afterwards so why would there be any outrage? Unless you're referring to the drugs ban he served during his career.
