Where’s the Porteous stuff coming from, just speculation?
Much as I would like it I have heard he is interested in going abroad.

"The club remain in talks with central defender Rocky Bushiri, meanwhile, despite the Democratic Republic of Congo’s contract having expired at the end of the campaign. Bushiri is due to report back for pre-season training along with all of Hibernian’s other international players on Friday, with Gray describing “positive talks” with the cult hero."

In the evening news. Would be pretty strange for him to turn up for pre season if he wasn't staying, no?

Rather unusual yes - so that’s excellent news if he does turn up. Very positive sign.

It would be, but then I suppose we take out of contract players in for training fairly regularly to have a look at them. Teams also allow ex players to use their facilities to keep fit when they’re without a club on occasion, so it’s not unheard of.

That would be my take on it, unless he needs to clear his locker.

If he’s coming back to train he has to be staying. If he’s coming back to train, and hasn’t given and answer, he should be told we need one now.

If it’s right that he’s back in tomorrow then I think there will be a contract announcement tomorrow.

What a difference 6 or 7 months makes. Because back then I certainly wouldn’t have been really hoping Rocky stays.

If we ever get to the point those roasters are at - where the defence mechanism around a rival signing is 'THE COMPUTER OBVIOUSLY DIDNT FLAG HIM UP, WE'D HAVE HIM OTHERWISE, HE MUST BE PISH' - then just swiftly put us all out of our misery.

It's a joy to observe, they've given up on spending 50 odd million and using a football structure (of sorts), all they've had to show for it is a couple of unique atmospheric managerial appointments, relegations and a bottom 6 winners season.

The Budge McKinlay dream team is still coining it in and the flumps now only have a computer with a Kilmarnock floppy disc installed as their latest advantage over everyone else to hang onto.

Excited to see Manneh flourish thought he looked a really good player progressive
Haven’t seen anywhere near enough of him to form any sort of judgement. Looked ok in the 2nd half against Rangers but other than that, im no sure you can class him as a “really good player” based on his time here

I can only take it as a positive step that he's still very much open to staying here at least instead of clearing out and not looking in the rear view mirror.

Clubs do still help out players all the time though, Stevie Mallan was routinely at East Mains getting some rehab work done when he got back from Turkey initially for example.

There's every chance that Rocky comes out on pre-season with us without having committed to anything, as we'll probably enjoy having him around the team, but also in the hope that he decides to stay in the coming weeks and in doing so has had his pre-season and just fits in nicely ready to go.

Tend to agree. I think we all want Manneh to come good, but thus far there's been little to show he will. His performance v Rangers was patchy, but there were some decent moments.

Started slow but finished well. Bit like our season.

Thought he was good in the 2nd half against Sevco and encouraged by what Gray had to say about him in he wasn’t up to speed with the pace of our game and how a good pre-season would be beneficial to the player . Going by what Gray has been saying I think he’s expecting Manneh to make a positive impact and it wouldn’t surprise me if we see him more involved this season.

I should hope so. By the start of the season, he'll have been at Hibs for at least 6 months.

He's potentially a big player for the coming season, but has it all to prove in terms of being good enough/suitable for our game.

Two players Gray mentioned that needed a good pre-season was Manneh and Bowie in he gave the impression that we haven’t seen them at their best yet . Hopefully we do now .

I noticed the BBC gossip had a couple of Hibs-related items this morning with the X account of Duncan McClean as the source. They have since disappeared which suggests someone there has figured out it's a fake, which is what most people here reckoned. A quick Google search suggests there is no Scottish sports journalist with that name.
No idea what motivates such nonsense but there's a lot of it out there...

    Not too shabby.
    Agreed

However, it's the strength of the bench that really starts to impress.

GK - Smith - proven ability
Defence - Miller, Ekpiteta, O'Hora, Obita - all fit into the system easily
Midfield - Manneh, Moriah-Welsh, Newell, Campbell, Chris Cadden, Molotnikov - all bring something to the party.
Attack - Youan - potential game changer

Sure I've missed someone out but add in some of the developing youngsters and maybe one or two up front and that is one hell of a strong squad.

Still very reliant on Triantis signing as he is pivotal to how the midfield works. We don't have an equivalent player in the midfield so might be nice to bring in someone similar as cover for injury or the inevitable suspension.

Not sure the squad has been this strong at this time of year for decades.

This summer was supposed to be a complete overhaul but the unexpected success of last season has left us simply building and enhancing the squad.

    Happy days.

I am desperate for us to get Triantis.

However I do think if we get Mulligan he could fill in that no 8 type role when Triantis needed a rest
