According to Hibs Observer ""Hibs "win" race for Rangers linked midfielder Josh Mulligan""

From that alone I'm taking it we have signed him.
Absolutely, but I'll only 100% believe it when we announce it. Been burned too many times before.

If I’m being totally honest I can’t remember seeing him at all.

    So what’s he like?
Really good at going forward from RB runs forward with real power. Also a good crosser (not quite Nicky Cadden standard though). Good age as well at 22 so definitely still room to improve. Not sure how great he is defensively though.

A quick look at the Dundee forum tells you he's a cracking player too. Great signing if it goes through tomorrow.

Mulligan would be a very good signing. The exact kind of player we should be looking at - young but played a good number of games, experience in SPL, can play a few roles and bags of potential in terms of how he can grow as a player and then potentially profit for the club.

Our recent signings have been wholly sensible

Get Triantis and Rocky tied down and it's a brilliant start to the window

    McGrath
    Mulligan

Both players who have proved their worth in the league and should flourish

Had a quick look on what they were saying across the road and did laugh when I seen this…

If Jamestown thought Mulligan would be a good fit for us, we’d have made a move for him

He's the equivalent of Nicky Cadden on the opposite flank

His first instinct is always positive

One touch & whip it goalwards with quality

    Great signing

I know folk just look at actual assists, but you watch that and he creates a hell of a lot of chances.

Cadden/Obita option on left, Mulligan/Cadden option on the right

That would be fantastic for us

Really! If that poster is serious they've fell down another Vlad style rabbit hole.

Is there a thread on flat earth over there?

Hope we pull this off, he is a really decent player with potential. Thought he was their best player when we pumped them 3 or 4 at ER a few months back.

I'd said about Mulligan at the time Lyall Cameron was the hot topic and said I'd have Mulligan as our top target and would take him from Dundee over Cameron. Still of that opinion. Would be a tremendous bit of business.

Whilst lording in the 'l told you so' worth remembering I said Triantis was rubbish about the same time and was underwhelmed with the signing of 'just Chris Cadden's brother'. Mulligan will be excellent though.. you heard it here 😅

Remember that we normally announced our signing on a Thursday or Friday, must be about time for the other strip to be announced

So we would be due Dundee compensation? Probably in the region of £500k.

Or Dundee could agree to less with a sell in fee?

Think Hibs would go to a tribunal?

I reckon we’ll have come to an agreement with Dundee and it’ll probably involve a sell on fee to bring the price down a bit.

Good few years ago and different people involved, obviously, but sure that’s what we did with McGinn.

With Rangers out the picture the next best thing for them, financially, would be to deal with us as they wouldn’t get as much from down south if he ended up down there.

Any idea how much or roughly how to calculate/work it out?

He’s been at Dundee since 12 which means it likely cost us a decent bit. Asked GPT to estimate

As much of an excellent signing as Mulligan would be, wonder if at somewhere like £400-£700K it is a pivot away from Triantis. Mulligan can play as an 8. Hopefully not and we can bring in both

I don’t think it’ll impact anything to do with Triantis (or us signing another midfielder if we can’t get Triantis). Unless Gray has seen something in him that makes him think he can play permanently in there, like he saw in Triantis. I’d be surprised though. Right hand side was somewhere that needed strengthened, I think he’ll be signed to play there with the option to cover centrally if needed.

If it happens, it is an absolutely fantastic signing. Funso Ojo and Ross McCrorie has made me realise it’s never quite done until the scarfs above the head 🤣

He’s someone I’ve been saying we should sign for a couple of years now. He is everything we should be going for in a player. Young, Scottish, great attitude and a really good player.

More Chris Cadden than Nicky imo. A really strong and powerful player who can drag you up the pitch. A better dribbler and passer than Chris however and imo really improves us on that side of the pitch.
