Clarksons Farm was superb viewing again.

Watched Titan yesterday on Netflix, that was fairly jaw dropping.

They done China last series. Not a fan of it this year. Couldn't take to any of the teams and found it but boring compared to previous seasons. I also had it in my head they were starting in London and doing Europe for some reason.
Nope, they deliberately avoided China last series. It was Japan to Indonesia but they flew them from the checkpoint in South Korea to Hanoi in Vietnam to avoid China as it would have been too difficult with the COVID measures China still had in place. They did something similar on the series just ended, flying them from the final Chinese checkpoint to Nepal to avoid the Himalayas

Starting in London and going all through Europe.
First series was London to Singapore, so, yes, Europe was involved in that one.
    Second series was South America
    Third was Canada
    Fourth was Japan to Indonesia
Fifth (series just ended) was China to India.

They've done Asia (appreciate it is a big and culturally diverse continent) in three series (and two consecutive series) so I can't see them doing that next time.
They've done South America twice (one normal series, one celebrity series).

    So obvious gaps are:
    (1) Africa (though one of the celebrity series started in Africa) - might be too difficult infrastructure wise in certain places?
    (2) Australia (I felt the Canada one was lacking in that it was just one country but at least they had a language barrier in parts of it which they wouldn't have in Australia)
    (3) Northern/Eastern Europe (maybe a bit boring) - ended the first celebrity series in Norway.
    (4) Russia (just not possible at the moment - and probably include Asia again)
    (5) Middle East (see Russia and its Asia again)

I agree with the poster who said the fact India was so cheap made it a bit easy. I'd also say that once out of China, language wasn't such a big issue due to the amount of people who speak English in India (and Nepal).

I think there should be a new rule where they can't just ask someone on a train to look up Google Maps and transport websites.

I stuck with it and thought it just got pass marks and no more. Why is everyone so hostile? It’s very, very cliched with the characters and there are loads of scenes where it’s so obviously scripted to try and drop funny Scottish humour into it but it misses by a mile - some of that down to the directing/acting and some down to the writing.

Then there’s the costumes and haircuts - why?! It’s ludicrous, genuinely points where you’re left wondering what year it’s supposed to be - smart phones, flat screens, and laptops on the one hand, 80’s clothes, haircuts and cars on the other.

The other thing I really didn’t like about it was the clumsy shoe horning of plot points. Without giving any spoilers away, one example is the dad telling the police, randomly, about the necklace that was about to become significant to the story. It was so out of keeping with the scene, that it annoyed me .

And Kelly McDonald’s character isn’t going near her patient in a personal capacity in a million years, that whole plot line was ludicrous.
I’m normally like this with stuff but for some reason all of the above was kind of why I really enjoyed it!

With ya on the The Rig tho…bloody awful that was.

Fubar is back on netflix. Silly but enjoyable nonsense. Any even gets to say "I'll be back"
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

Despite your recommendation, I didn't think much of episode 8, but I returned to the series last night and watched episode 9, Escape from S*it Mountain.

I thought that was excellent so I'm looking forward to the next episode. 🤞

Just finished Dept Q, thought it was absolutely dreadful. Amazed by the good reviews that I had seen over the last few weeks.

Not seen it but tempted to watch it out of curiosity - I don’t know if I’ve ever been aware of a programme polarise opinion so much.

It's a strange one that's for sure. Def gets some top reviews.

I thought the characters were unlikeable, some of the accents poor, and the storyline was absolutely ridiculous. Not quite sure why we persisted until the end....

Finished the latest series of Clarksons Farm last night and I found it to be a bit Grand Tour like. Entertaining in the main but veering sharply in to farce a lot of the time.

The whole pub thing was incredibly tedious and frustrating to watch - yes it was done for drama but having been formerly involved in Pubs and now in agriculture I found it ridiculous really. Clarksons Pub with some shots of combines and tractors thrown in for good measure.

The forced opening on a Bank Holiday was such a pointless exercise, I actually felt sorry for most of the people involved because they were putting put under such pressure for the sake of dramatic TV.

No soft opening to work out the kinks, throwing literal millions of pounds at it for the sake of it, running around like idiots, it was so ****ing obvious it was going to be a disaster.

The two advisors he brought on board, I read they were insufferable on reddit a couple of weeks ago, I think they were doing their best under ridiculous amounts of pressure for the vanity of a millionaire.

The whole business plan was obviously flawed - admirable as its intentions were. I think it was £300 per kg for the black pepper they were using because it was grown in Cornwall? Christ alive, its lunacy. It's why we have a global economy. The whole point of backing British Farming is you buy the products we produce here, but not at the sycophantic exclusion of products that aren't - especially something as fundamental to cooking as pepper.

Really enjoyed series 1-3, series 4 of Clarksons Farce was silly.

I thought the first episode was great and at that point assumed I was onto a winner after all the great reviews I'd seen.

After that it sort of just droned on and on, with the main detective becoming more unlikable by the episode.

Turned into Sunday afternoon napping material and if it hadn't been for the Scottish representation, I'd have given up.

Just about finished The Plot Against America.

It's a David Simon thing, which is what attracted me. But it's remarkable how much of it has echoes in what is happening in the US just now.

I read the book years ago, didn't know it'd been made into a tv series.

I really like that programme I do think this season has possibly crossed the line from an interesting look at family/friendship dynamic to everyone having a sob story ala X factor and the like which was a little disappointing, the brothers for example having different experiences growing up and in life was an interesting watch, the young couple on a ‘make or break’ trip and the sisters story was not so much, it all felt more producer induced than an actual issue that the people involved were dealing with

Also surprised how beautiful China looked I’ve never fancied it before but it looks incredible

Yip seemed to be a greater concentration on the individual relationships this time the ultra competitive mother and son another example but yes love seeing the scenery China as you say was a real eye opener a hidden gem and also like to see their individual tactics and the seedier parts of town and the different modes of transport Canada for example where everyone car shared

Shout out once again for John Hannah does a wonderful job as narrator imo

I see that season 2 of Scrublands has been added to iPlayer, season 1 was worth a watch.
