Just goals , just Hibs goals !

As fans we all enjoy Hibs scoring though is there any goals you have that are favourites that you particularly enjoyed over the years meaning aside from the really special ones like Gray's winner in the cup or Keith Wrights header in the semi. Here’s one of mine I really like ( 2:47 in ) …

Derek Riordans against Hamilton upon his return.

Sure he’d been on the pitch about 10 seconds and scored the most typical Riordan goal ever.

Alan Gordon’s second in 0-7 a thing of real beauty

Shades crashes into the Hearts defender like a train winning the ball and rattling every bone in his body like a xylophone knocking the ball onto Arthur Nijinsky Duncan who had already started his run looking up for Alan Gordon in the middle sends over the cross one flick of the blonde head sends the ball off the inside of the upright past the despairing black clad Kenny Garland the ball trickles along the goal line before hitting off the inside of the faraway post and rolling into the net

The icing on the cake seventh heaven

Pretty sure I saw an oil painting of it once it was that good

One that came to mind for me was another Riordan goal.

He got a hattrick at home to Killie in Mowbray’s first season and the replay from behind the goals on one of them is just very aesthetically pleasing. He sells the defender a dummy and just rolls the ball perfectly into the bottom corner just out of reach of the keeper.

It’s very quick but found a video of it:

One of my favourite goals is the second goal in your same game. Dominique Malonga was a stand-out player for me and if I remember right was fondly thought of by our fans. He performed really well in his short time with us and never quite understood why he left us?

    An absolute peach.

Tell you what - in a thread not far from here Paul Cairney’s taking a wee bit of abuse. There are 2 fairly outstanding examples of “end product” in this game alone, glorious ball through to Doyle to cross for the first and a cracking nutmeg and cutback for the second.

Good player on his day, for sure.

First goal is the one that came to my mind. If paul cairney could have taken it seriously, he would've had a real chance.

Didn’t he end up getting diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or something like that?

Just had a look and found an article from 2020, he was getting tested for it before he even signed for us but said his career stalled because he thought he made it when he signed for us and stopped working hard on his fitness.

Yep he looked excellent in that as did the pairing of Griffiths and Doyle. Cairney was always very skilful and very good when fully fit as both goals show.

Looked like a real find initially in that second season under Fenlon but was always a bit on the heavy side for top flight football. Falkirk semi final the beginning of the end for him, worst player on the park that day and never seemed to recover afterwards.

One that always sticks out for me is a Dean Shiels one, when we beat Gretna 6-0 at ER on the way to winning the LC in 2006.

He went on a run to the edge of the penalty area, and lifted an unbelievable chip with his left foot over the keeper.

An amazing bit of skill for anyone to deliver, never mind someone who’s depth perception was so compromised due to his sight issues.
