Administration threads really do show up how uninformed many football fans are as they really do think Administration (or liquidation) is a big deal when in fact it's all just one con trick so that clubs just shaft the creditors pay them back at 10p in the £ or whatever and just simply start all over again usually in exactly the same stadium.

Remember all wailing and whining and knashing of teeth over Dundee (twice), Livi (twice), Airdrie, Motherwell, Morton, Inverness and of course our poppy thieving neighbours.

Old Rangers took it one step further and were liquidated though you would hardly think so and Gretna and Clydebank reincarnated under slightly different names so Dumbarton pulling the age old magic trick was entirely predictable.

Next season expect another sob story about some another club when in reality 6 months later and they will be back again as they always are after some tiny cosmetic change.
The Huns have never recovered from liquidation.

    True.

Apparently 90% of businesses go out of business completely after administration or liquidation but football clubs always seem to survive in one form or another.

I would imagine that a creditor who was local to a football club would think twice about pulling the plug as it would be bad for business in the community to say nothing about windaes being pit in . Examples being businesses and suppliers around Gorgie when our neighbours gloriously imploded.

Does this mean the huns are now the second youngest team in the leagues rather than the newest club?

Don't know, but it means two of the three clubs we've beaten in Scottish Cup Finals have at one time or another been liquidated. Let's hope Celtic complete the trilogy. Not likely but here's hoping.

I'm really surprised by how little media attention this has got. In fact I was initially sceptical that it had happened at all because I couldn't find anything on it!

It's a damn shame for the Sons and a loss to Scotland's football heritage, but the phoenix club really should be put down to the bottom of the pyramid. Although you could say that wouldn't be sporting integrity, given they're just getting the same treatment the last replacement club got in 2012. Imagine if Sevco had been allowed to start in the Championship as some folk wanted back then - would DFC2 have started there too???

Sfa uefa fifa should be protecting clubs from overspending not creating the vacuum to overspend leading to bankruptcy and doing it again. A fair football structure with no debt and living within budgets.
    An unrealistic scenario IMO.

Most businesses use debt to operate. Football clubs, including ours, are no different.

The difference, IIRC, is that we didn't have the pyramid in 2012. We had the SPL, the SFL, and the rest.

If it wasn't for supporters in different clubs coming together and putting pressure on their clubs, sevco would have been in the championship

The biggest advantage they have over other businesses is the loyalty and affection of their 'customers' Can't imagine town hall meetings and customers coming together to raise money to save the local supermarket or DIY store.

IIRC it wasn't so long ago that AFC Bournemouth were in that very situation, in fact their Wiki page is a litany of near misses with liquidation and debt. It seems the local populace weren't all that bothered about the club, a few thousand diehards aside, until EPL glamour came knocking
