    Football has lost it's flair

At the SFA's AGM today clubs agreed to an increase in the powers against clubs whose fans disrupt games by their use of flares.

Punishments could range from fines and ticket allocation restrictions, to the ultimate sanction of expulsion from the national cup competition.

I can't see them kicking Rangers or Celtic out of cups if this continues.

He was just trying to smoke out the puns.

Action does need to be taken though and I'd start by banning the Ugly Sisters. Of course, that's my preferred solution for any issue in Scottish football.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Ban them from everything fitba related and their fans from breeding too - that would help us all out in the future.

Think there’ll be one of a different colour thrown at a league cup group game

As this is a move by the SFA it will only apply to cup games.

    I don't think so.

The club and player disciplinary system is run by the SFA, so this would be an extension of that. Thay can't sanction exclusion from League games, but they can for the Cup. Anything else is fair game.

Rather than the ‘down with this sort of thing’ mentality which has been the prevailing attitude at the SFA for years, embrace it. Encourage clubs to have safe pyro areas with sanctions imposed for pyro elsewhere in the ground or pyro being thrown on the pitch or the like.

It's part of the game the world over. We aren't going to get rid of it; rather than the curtain twitching Scotch Presbyterian mentality of 'och ye shouldnae be daein that' mentality surely it makes more sense to try and find a compromise and solutions?

I've got asthma, as does my daughter, so I'm probably in a (very slightly) higher risk category when it comes to pyro but I don't mind it. I don't buy into all the stuff about it massively improving the atmosphere but it exists and a lot of people like it. It's been a feature in Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey etc for years. We should be absolutely hammering anyone who throws them at opposing fans, at players or even on the park but in designated areas within stadia it would be a big yes from me.

It seems some people want a concerted effort to remove all the fun from going to games. Don't sing songs we don't know, don't wave flags next to us, don't have pyro, no drinking, no standing........

I've always found pyros a pointless pain in the erchie and won't miss them if they get banned - they don't add anything other than occasional interruptions to play and a smelly smokescreen that can be smelled anywhere regardless of "safe" areas.

What passes for 'pyro' in Scotland would be laughed out of the ground in some parts of Europe and practically all of South America.

IMO the fact that the likes of us and Hearts have spent about a million quid each on hybrid pitches and there will be three clubs in the league next year with synthetic pitches is probably part of the concern here ..... once a flare burns a mark into one of those pitches it's probably not an easy, or cheap, thing to fix. Hardly welcome in a league not exactly awash with money.

Can the ultras not replace flares and smoke bombs with strings of flashing Christmas lights? Widely available in green and white and cheaper than flares and smoke bombs I would imagine
