That is the way to look at it. What a tremendous servant he has been for Villa. What a tremendous servant he could have been to Celtic. The only ones shafted were Celtc - and they did it to themselves!
Absolutely and it’s something even today they regret and annoys them in if they had of done things right and fair in the beginning they’d probably have got him .. Ah well , what a pity

Not nonsense but glad to see its bothered you so badly.

10m for a club who have spent the best part of the last 10 years struggling in the English football league compared to a club with Billionaire investors who spent 2 years in the Championship and came back up at 2nd time of asking with the 3rd richest owners in the PL to add to that.

10m for Lennon Miller who's spent his Motherwell career playing bottom 6 football.

John McGinn who was bossing the SPFL at the time of his departure along with having played regular European football.
I must have missed the confirmed news today that Motherwell have received £10m for Lennon Miller.

Also it wasn't yesterday that McGinn left. We're 7 years on and the market has changed. Hibs are being linked with players for £1m.

John McGinn left us 7 years ago. The transfer market has changed a lot in that time. We didn’t have EPL clubs queueing up to sign SJM. We got a fair offer from Villa - at that time. As the other poster said, Celtic were the ones trying to shaft us. Shafted by Villa is nonsense - which you have almost acknowledged yourself. Different times, different market.

I think a big factor is the success of Scottish players in Italy - definitely a great thing going forward, but it's annoying to think what we might have got for SJM had Scottish players not been grossly undervalued at that time.

Maybe Porto would do well in Italy?

The Scottish clubs are partly to blame for our own players being undervalued. You don't need to accept bids from other teams. When you look at some comparable leagues even leagues of lower standard they are achieving more for players than our league. Need to starting putting the foot down more. This comes for all are young talents getting hoovered up for pennies as well. I know it's easier said than done though.

*sometimes the ball is in the players court, we either have an unhappy player(example=nisbet) or the player will just run down his contract and our clubs get next to nothing.

He does improve us though, regardless of how you look at it, up until LJ had walked in the door, Ryan was apart of a hibs side that had conceded the least amount of goals outside of the old firm for 2 season if I am not mistaken.

Absolutely no disputing his performances dropped in the months leading up to his departure.

If you're suggesting to me he isn't a greater option than Warren O'Hora or Lewis Miller at RCB then your mistaken.
You're not really addressing my points, just comparing him to our current centre backs. As I said, there's more to being a good footballer that innate ability.

Porteous' performances were erratic and cost the side too often. Which seasons were our goals conceded so low? When he played with players like Hanlon, Ambrose, Macgregor ?

If Hibs end up with Porteous, Bushiri, Iredale, O'Hora and Ekpiteta as the choices for a back three with both Obita and Miller as further options then I think that we will be in a very good place.

Not sure how likely it is but hopefully the competition for places would push standards upwards.

In central midfield, if we get Triantis back and maybe Simons then added to McGrath and a virtual new signing in Manneh then again it looks like we have options and competition.

Working on the assumption that Vente and Youan leave then we probably need at least one wide attacking player and maybe two forwards especially if Hoillet doesn't resign.

Probably the best position we have been in a this time of year for many years.

I suspect we'll see one or more from Miller, O'Hora and Ekpiteta depart if Porteous comes back.

Triantis would be the icing on the midfield cake, but his return would surely trigger departures in the central areas too.

Up front looks like there are going to be incomers, with Gayle, Vente and Youan departing and Myko's loan over. Would like Hoilett for another year and a couple of different options as strikers.

Northern echo running with the same story that Sunderland are looking for over £1m for Triantis . I wonder how much more than a million they might want ? …

I suspect that you are right. O'Hora and Ekpiteta were brought in to be the first choice centre half pairing. Neither will likely be happy to be second fiddle yet again. However, we need a decent sized squad for the coming season so if we can keep two out of them and Miller we will be in a good place.

If Porteous comes in but Bushiri does not resign then we could do worse than go into the season with the 6 options I previously named.

Plenty of opportunity for O'Hora and Ekpiteta to show what they can do when Porteous is suspended.

I’m not sure its that big a deal. I think the board will provide the cash for this - if Triantis wants to sign for us. The big danger is interest from other clubs and if he fancies a different challenge. Big decision for him with the World Cup in mind.

There’s still uncertainty over lots of moves but if we end up with all the rumoured players in from:

New signings rumours: Porto and Simons
    New contract for Rocky
    Sign form last Seasons loan:
    Triantis and Myko
Already confirmed - GK and McGrath (plus Manneh from Jan)

We would be one striker to replace Gayle away from the strongest Hibs team in generations.

That back line would be so strong.

Fair enough T . I just thought if it was say 1.2 then it would be doable but if it was going upwards of 1.4 then maybe that would be reaching a point where its going beyond what we might be able to do . I suppose it does boil down to wither he fancies a different challenge or the security in he knows our club and he’ll get regular game time at us if we agree a fee of course .

I think we'd have seen our first million pound signing had we had guaranteed European group stage football. That shock Aberdeen win could be a sliding doors moment for our club.

Lennon Miller won't go for 10 million. That's just silly. They might get half that.

We also need to remember that he's only 18 and already a full Scottish international. I don't think McGinn played for Scotland until he was 20/21.

1 year left on his contract doesn’t put Motherwell in all that strong a position surely.

The sliding doors moment is missing out on the automatic group stuff. I have full confidence the board will back the manager big time this transfer window. I think we’ll break our transfer record - possibly more than once.
