Bobby Duncan v Napoli first goal against Dino Zoff from 25 yards hardest shot I remember . I am saying 25 yards but think most people who were there it seemed to be 35 yards.

Joe McBrides first goal versus Celtic in a 2-0 victory at Easter Road in 1970. First time volley which almost took the net away!

Yes a lot of venom in that shot- think it was Tom Hart's first match as owner. Another contender would be John Baxter's freekick against Killie in Bobby Johnstone's first game back at Hibs.

Griffiths winner in the semi against Falkirk. A rocket on a motorbike.
Plenty of venom in that strike put his weight behind it

Think he had just had a perfectly good goal disallowed

Griffiths also scored a right footed volley off a cross from the left against Dundee United that had a fair bit behind it.

Very good goal, up there with the best Hibs goals.

I’m sure Barry Prenderville scored an absolute howitzer at ER back in the late 90s. One of the hardest shots I’ve ever seen.
I was in the front row of the east stand with a view directly behind him. As soon as he hit it it was in !

Gordon Hunter from the edge of the box v St Mirren, possibly bettered by Torfasson in the same game.

Wow I was just thinking about Hunter's goal, it's one of my favourite goals scored at ER, spoke to Gordon about it years ago, everyone always goes on about his goal at Tinycastle so I think he appreciated someone remembering that one, he did say Neil Orr took the corner which I didn't remember, also don't think any TV cameras at the game, it was an epic comeback if I remember.

Michael O’Neill against Rangers. I was only about 8 years old but I recall it was an indirect freekick and someone layed him off and he smashed it in from about 25 yards

Thunderbolt shot from around 30 yards, what a game that was under the floodlights at the old Easter road, even the Dunbar end full of Hibees.
Fantastic days and Hibs had a very good team before the Tornadoes came along.

It was too close range to really count, but always loved the way GOC leathered it through Gordon for 2-0 in the unbeatable game.

Absolutely gave it everything. Wellied it.

I’ve not googled this so possibly beer-impaired mammory….

Did Mikey Stewart not score a peach of a goal in the cup semi at Tynie
versus St Johnstone. He met a corner with a volley into to the top corner. The stadium was in stunned silnce for a split second because it was incredibly quick.

i think this was the game where he then threw up - may have been just after the goals if memory serves.

Thats the one I was talking about in post 43. Thanks for finding it, reaffirms that it was indeed a belter!

Sauzee vs Falkirk and Boyle V Livvy my top 2. Seen Goram Charnley and McGinlay score from their own half, but none were thunderbolts. Charnley's goal from Larsson's pinpoint pass was close though.

Sauzees against them . Niemmi’s still looking for it
He was Finnish as a goalkeeper after that one.

Didn’t Boyle smash in a volley against Livi, think it was towards end of Hecky’s tenure?

Remember it being an absolute raker.

Love a good thread where there is a very liberal approach to checking what other people have already posted.

I my memory serves me right did Gary Deegan not fire a rocket into top corner against Aberdeen at ER?

I thought it was a sclaff myself.
As the ball floated in from the corner I said to my son, "Don't even think..."

It came off his shin, rather than the boot. Still a fantastic goal though.
