He'd be a nailed on starter though
Just as well these comments aren't aimed at the prophet Mohammed. This site would be closed down.

Surely Sallinger is the best option. He would be our own player and by all accounts relatively inexpensive.

The best option is the option that contributes to us winning the most football matches.

We have a keeper who has a relationship and understanding with the core of the team and the way it plays. Anyone we bring in shouldn't immediately be displacing that

Obviously but how are you going to know that before either keeper comes in?

Do you know if Messi is better than Dwight Gayle?

There are loads of ways to objectively assess players ahead of signing them.

Are we not looking at upgrading anyone in the core of the team now? Which players form part of the core?

    Pedant alert.

Goalkeeper is a specialist position that takes time for the player to develop their fluency with the players around them. This board in particular writes them off after one game.

What this board does is utterly irrelevant.

I agree but there have been players in the past we have recruited who didn't fit or simply were not good enough. Including some recent goalkeepers

  15. #2084
Not sure if it matters if we have 5 goalkeepers, you need quality in depth in different positions.

Part of the reason we finished 3rd this year, is because we had strength in numbers across all areas of the pitch... if a new goalkeeper or 2 are brought in, I hope they all displace each other, just as we seen across near enough our whole squad this season.

It could just be "we've offered him something and it's up to him" knowing full well he isn't going to take us up on it. But I guess it's a slightly more optimistic update on Rocky than it just being he's turned down a new contract and will leave. So perhaps still a chance for him to stay.

Not really a surprise for the rest of it though.

Id want better players in all positions in the team. Very happy for a talented keeper to come in and provide competition and something for Smith to think about, but id say its not where we should be spending the bulk of our limited budget. Because our first choice keeper at the moment is clearly a top performer.

The whole Reuben McAllister signing was pretty bizarre wasn't it?

Especially when Fabrizio Romano was tweeting about it. Whenever I seen him, always thought he deserved a chance

Can’t believe Allan Delferrière still has two years left on his contract. Wild that more than one person thought that was a good idea.

Where is Jamie McGrath? Is it just that his contract with Hibs doesn’t start until later.

He does only have one year left on his deal, at least

Only really concerns the end of this seasons squads updated status.

Signed because his old boy was assistant at the time.

22 senior players on the retained list in discussions with 2 more and JM still to be added . That could take our squad to 25 with no departures.

Obviously players will move on, Vente for example.

I wonder how many more will be moved on and what size of squad we will have.

I might be misremembering things, but I was under the impression that folk who had seen him play said he looked a decent player for that age?
