He seems quite pally with the squad so I doubt he's a bad egg or anything like that. But I really don't want to see the lad appear on the park for us again.

I think SDG will give him a chance in pre-season. I would be surprised if we don't see him at some point, but if he doesn't take it I think he will be moved on.

He’ll probably get on the park in pre season but I don’t think that’ll equate to getting a chance as such. You always have players making up the numbers at that point that aren’t part of the plans. I think he’ll fall in to that.

Just seen this on twitter. The guy he's quoting has 10k followers and it says he used to work for talksport and Fox Sports news in his bio. Surely we won't be signing both him and the other guy from Austria along with Smith?

Do we not have to have 3 goalies registered for Europe? ISTR something about that.

We do but if one of those 3 keepers is under the age of 22 or 23 (can’t remember which) and came through our youth team then they don’t count as taking up a space in our 25-man squad.

Therefore, I would expect for the first half of the season at least Murray Johnson will be used as our third choice.

That’ll probably linked to Tim Bezbatchenko name dropping him as someone who could move to Hibs in the summer.

Would be surprised if we sign Paulsen as I don’t think it suits either Bournemouth or Hibs , who’d start like? . I think the other keeper rumour probably makes more sense in fairness. Some good saves in there like on this too …

Who would start? The better of the two would start.

I don’t think we need a YouTube reel to be convinced about Smiths abilities in goals, he did well last season.

We should always be trying to sign better though, then it’s up to Smith to prove he’s better than Paulsen.

Not going by his reply to Boyle on IG " Hope next season i can be like you" sounds like he's planning on seeing out his deal.
If I had the kind of contract we gave him I would absolutely be seeing it out. Put the lot into a savings fund and regardless of where you go, enjoy a very comfortable retirement when it comes. Not my fault Hibs decided to pay me that much.

And how much is he getting paid?

Hearts get Kabangu back on a permanent 3 year deal. Paid around 250k.
Must have already been agreed to buy as he has been pretty poor last few months

Rumoured to be £5k a week, so £260k next year in wages.

No danger will he budge unless it's in his interests.

Still paying for past recruitment errors unfortunately. I think Jair Tavares hadn't even played a senior game before signing for us. All at under 20 level possibly.

Rumored where, here on .Net? Very doubtful we agreed that much for such a young player IMHO.

The mental thing about Jair is that Johnson was apparently stunned we managed to get him.

He was. I bumped into him in indigo yard before the season started and he was going on about what a coup it was to sign him!

Bournemouth apparently interested in Kyogo. Can you imagine the carnage if they bought him and loaned him to us for the season
Nicky Cadden supplying Kyogo with good deliveries would be very entertaining

I think he should have been stunned that someone from Hibs went to watch Benfica B at the same time they had Jota and Duk in their squad and ended up with Jair.

I wonder if SDG may be able to do something with him to make him an effective impact sub? He had a mini-revival under Montgomery and for a short while looked half decent. His goal against Dundee was impressive.

I doubt it and at best he wouldn’t be more than someone who comes on with ten to go off the bench, but I just wonder.

Aye, that was at the start when he thought he was good and tried to get the credit for unearthing a gem.

Fast forward a few months and folk were getting chucked under a bus left, right and centre getting the blame for darkening his door with such rubbish 😂

TBF that says more about Johnson.

That's almost a whole team of players now that McIness will never even have heard of!It may well be that he needs to roll up the bare Kilmarnock Rug and plant it in Gorgie to achieve the Pink Bus Fortress the silly twirlys are hoping for.

Because we’ll have scouted Poulsen and felt he was better than Smith, otherwise we wouldn’t be signing him.

That’s not to say Smith won’t get the opportunity to prove the management wrong but if we’re not trying to sign better than what’s already here we’re doing it wrong.

This isn’t kids football where you need to give everyone a fair shot with equal game time. We play who we think is best and the players who aren’t picked need to prove otherwise every day in training and in matches when they get the chance.

The biggest thing that impacts Smith is his name and where he was signed from.

It’s almost like it’s not exotic or a big enough name for some.

The vast majority of his performances have been brilliant and he’s the best keeper I’ve seen at ER in years.

I don’t see it like that at all .

I think since Smith stepped in as NO.1 against Aberdeen in the 3-3 game he’s exceeded expectations and done brilliantly and was one of the top keepers in our league last season and because of this I don’t think it will matter who comes in as Gray will stick with Smith as the NO.1 , the jerseys basically his to lose .

If keeps up the levels of performances then Paulsen wouldn’t see a lot of game time ( why would he ? ) which isn’t what Bournemouth want for their player . Going by how we stuck with Bursik for so long I don’t think Grays as ruthless to drop our current keeper who has been outstanding… just my opinion of course.

Bizarrely, he seems to have been pretty highly rated there and had a 30 million euro release clause in his contract when he signed it in 2018, I read that juventus had tried to sign him as had one of the big German teams.
