I'm horrendous at getting into new music so my teenage daughter and I will make Spotify playlists for each other. She gets landed with Britpop indie while I'm finding out about the songs of Ethel Caine and Nessa Barrett.
One of the playlists we did was to do our dream festival - 5 bands a day for two days playing four songs each. Final band each day is your headliner set.
I went for:
Day one: Belle & Sebastian, The Charlatans, Pulp, Blur, Radiohead
Day two: Supergrass, James, Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, Oasis

Who would make it into your festival?

On the basis that they can be resurrected or tele-transported from the past, then:
Day 1: Ray Charles, The Beatles, Otis Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cream (as was, not Clapton as is)
Day 2: Big Bill Broonzy, Hendrix, Prince, Rory Gallagher, The Proclaimers (for the obvious closing number)

Day One: Ramones, Talking Heads, Specials, Blondie, The Clash.
On standby: Stiff Little Fingers (77-82 incarnation).
Day Two: Tom Waits, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, The Pogues, Dolly Parton.
I'm not a fan in the sense that I seek out their music, but any festival would benefit from the presence of two unparalleled live artists, Queen and Springsteen.

Hate these things... I know I'll have a different list in an hour
Day 1
Free, Rory Gallagher, Warren Zevon (with Jackson Browne and David Lindley), Alabama 3, the Faces (as was, not the proposed reboot, which gives me the fear)
Day 2
Linda Ronstadt , Steve Earle, Faithless, Southside Johnny (with Bruce as guest), Otis Redding (with Booker T and the MG's backing).
And there you go.... looking over others, I have missed Talking Heads and Aretha. And my 2nd favourite band ever, Little Feat. Can we have a Day 3?Last edited by CropleyWasGod; Yesterday at 11:13 AM.

Day 2: Balance & Composure, Real Friends, Mayday Parade, Spanish Love Songs, Death Cab for Cutie
I might steal your theme - my wife and I make each other playlists every month, often with a theme attached. We're off to a festival together end of May, so this is a cracking idea.Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.
