The markets didn’t appreciate Trumps attack on Powell at the Fed. Buckle up, the economy is about to roller coaster

On track for the worst April since 1932. Think unemployment went above 20% then.

    Getting there

    S&P 500 down 15% since Trump’s inauguration the worst since 1928

American citizens complaining that their 410 pensions are down 20-30k

    The US $ is down

Everything Kamala Harris said about Trump’s second administration and the economic chaos it would bring has come to pass or looking that way unless something changes?

Trump fails to realise that his trade tariffs are a tax on the American people in the form of increased prices Trump said he would bring prices down

Just waiting on China to cash in the US government bonds they allegedly bought during the latest downturn to increase the pressure on the dollar

If Trump cannot get interest rates down this is not going to be pretty not only for the US but the world economy

The sooner Trump can do a trade deal with China the better

America sneezes we all catch a cold

US headed for recession markets do not like uncertainty and even Republicans are getting restless

    Food safety? Who needs it?

    https://www.reuters.com/business/hea...ts-2025-04-21/

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Reuters) - The Food and Drug Administration is suspending a quality control program for testing of fluid milk and other dairy products due to reduced capacity in its food safety and nutrition division, according to an internal email seen by Reuters.

    Interesting, hadn't heard about that.

Do you have any links to newspaper articles on the subject?

Four weeks ago, Trump terminated funding for legal services to support unaccompanied children. Now, children as young as 4 years old are having to represent themselves in court when facing deportation.

I can't believe that this is the America that Americans want - some will, no doubt, but there will be plenty of sensible Americans utterly aghast at what is happening to their country.

We're seeing a wannabe dictator pushing the boundaries to see what he can get away with more and more every day. Sooner or later the law will catch up with him.

I really hope so, and soon. Must admit I would have liked to have heard more about Americans protesting and pushing back against this. I’m not fully over American news to be honest so I may have missed something. From what I do see though it appears only AOC and Bernie Sanders are the only visible Democrats trying to push back. Depressing state of affairs.

I reckon it'll be a combination of public protest leading to some sort of joint action from the Supreme Court, the military and the police that will eventually do for him. Before that happens though there will need to be some sort of atrocity where he clearly goes too far and it's not something that can be painted to be trivial, like jeopardising national security, overriding the law in his treatment of an immigrant or any of the other appalling stunts that he seems to be able to pull daily and get away with.

    It'll be pretty scary.

I simply cannot see him pulling off his plan and forever changing America, or even just surviving 4 more years of this.

It won't be immediate though. I think they're going to have had to have experienced the pain of the consequences of the current actions first and that won't happen overnight.

Tesla made a loss in Q1 but for carbon credits. That’s coming to an end soon so it’s going to be a loss making business very soon.

Some news on the potential Trade Deal between the UK and the US.

Trump has 'hinted' to Starmer that Turnberry hosting the UK Open would be 'very helpful'.

I can't give a newspaper link, this is from a senior member of management at Turnberry (who was apparently raging about how absurd it was)

Old news, but repeated again this morning…… ‘Musk to step back from working for Trump to focus attention on his loss making car company. Does he really think this will change folks’ minds about future purchases. He surely sees that he has done irreparable damage and turning back the clock isn’t going to change things.

Trump doesn’t get it. Some things are worth fighting for, and dying for.

What an insulting rant of a post.

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that, "Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There's nothing to talk about here." This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion. Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory but, if he wants Crimea, why didn't they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired? The area also houses, for many years before "the Obama handover," major Russian submarine bases. It's inflammatory statements like Zelenskyy's that makes it so difficult to settle this War. He has nothing to boast about! The situation for Ukraine is dire — He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever. The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the "killing field," and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with "no cards to play" should now, finally, GET IT DONE. I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this Complete and
Total MESS, that would have never started if I were President!

His considerable sized erse was heavily kissed then protected from the UK public during his first term of office, we will probably do our best to protect him from them this time as well.

We must cancel his trip to the UK.
