Long way to go but we can dream....on flash score it shows that top 2 go into European football. Any idea at what stage or what competition?

I'm not sure how the European places are decided. I remember Hibs playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League about 10 years ago but that was when we were regularly competing for the league title.

Scotland are currently ranked 16th so the winners of the league enter the Champions path 2nd round and the runners up enter the League path 2nd round - Both teams will be in a group of 4 where you have to win 2 games to qualify into the 3rd round there are 2 semi-finals and the 2 winners then play each other in the final and the winner progresses to the 3rd round. The 3rd round is just a straight knockout round to qualify for the group stages with the winner progressing.

There is going to be a Women's Europa Cup from next season but Scotland are not ranked highly enough within UEFA(only the top 13 countries get an automatic spot) but some of the teams who are knocked out in previous rounds will drop down into the new competition.

    Champions League (2025–)

    [edit]

On 4 December 2023, a new format was announced starting with the 2025–26 season.[1] The top seven associations enter three teams, associations ranked 8–17 enter two, and the remaining associations enter one. The competition is restructured to appear more similar to the men's CL format, with a Swiss-system 'league phase' consisting of 6 games against 6 different opponents (3 home and 3 away), and two paths (a champions path and a non-champions path) for teams that do not automatically qualify for the league stage.

    • Qualification takes place in two separate paths of up to three rounds.
      • The Champions path consists of the domestic champions from associations ranked seventh or below as well as the previous season's second competition winner with 4 teams advancing to the league stage. The first and second rounds are played as series of four-team mini-tournaments while the third round is played as two-legged ties.
      • The League path consists of domestic runners-up from associations ranked fourth to seventeenth and domestic third-placed teams from associations ranked first to seventh. A second round is played as a series of four-team mini-tournaments, while the third round is played as two-legged ties.
      • Losers from the third round ties and runners-up and third-placed teams in the second round mini-tournaments will transfer to the UEFA Women's Europa Cup, while fourth-placed teams in the second round mini-tournaments and all losers from the first round mini-tournaments will be eliminated.

    • The League phase consists of nine teams qualifying directly: The defending champions, domestic champions from the associations ranked sixth or higher as well as the domestic runners-up from the top two associations.
      • The top four teams from the league phase will advance to the quarter-finals while teams ranked fifth to twelfth will qualify to a knockout play-off round. The remaining six teams are eliminated.

Teams entering in this round Teams advancing from the previous round
    First round Champions path
    (24 teams)
    • 24 champions from associations 29–52
    Second round Champions path
    (28 teams)

    • 6 mini-tournament winners from the first round

    • 7 mini-tournament winners from the second round

    • 4 teams ranked 1–4 from the league phase
    • 4 winners from the knockout phase play-offs

    Europa Cup Format

    [edit]

Similarly to the UEFA Europa League in men's football, clubs can enter the tournament both by virtue of their league position in the previous season or by elimination from early stages of the same season's Champions League. Unlike both the men's Europa League and the Champions League for both genders, the new tournament will be a pure knock-out tournament with no group stage. Every round, up to and including the final, will be played as a two-legged home-and-away tie.[1]
The tournament will be contested by 44 clubs in total – thirteen direct qualifiers from associations ranked 8–13 and 18–24 based on domestic league placement in the previous season plus thirty-one teams eliminated in the first and second qualifying rounds of the same season's Women's Champions League.[1]
Teams entering in this round Teams advancing from the previous round Teams entering from the Champions League
    First round
    (24 teams)
    • 7 runners-up from associations 18–24
    • 6 third-placed teams from associations 8–13
    • 7 third-placed teams from the second round champions path mini-tournaments
    • 4 third-placed teams from the second round league path mini-tournaments
    Second round
    (32 teams)
    • 12 winners from the first round
    • 4 losers from the third round champions path
    • 5 losers from the third round league path
    • 7 runners-up from the second round champions path mini-tournaments
    • 4 runners-up from the second round league path mini-tournaments
    Round of 16
    (16 teams)
    • 16 winners from the second round

missed out on the chance to go top again tonight, apparently celtic keeper was the difference, unfortunately those two defeats v Hearts have done a lot of damage to any title aspirations they may have had.

still can't be bad if disappointed not to be a few points clear at the top and at least still splitting Rangers and Glasgow City at this stage

    Celtic 0 Hibernian 0
    Glasgow City 1 Rangers 2
    Montrose 3 Aberdeen 2
    Hearts 2 Motherwell 0
    Spartans 1 Dundee U 0
    Queen's Park 0 Partick Thistle 1

    fixtures this Sunday

Hibernian v Rangers... a chance to get over that recent hammering
    Hearts v Glasgow City
    Motherwell v Celtic
Hibs v Rangers live on Alba/iplayer today. 4.10 KO.

Mon the Ladies, is it the top 2 who get into Europe for the ladies? we potentially could have all 3 of the men, woman and u18/19s in Europe next season.

Have just seen the posts at the top of the page.

This game is fierce. Both teams looking dangerous.

The energy in the running is a step change improvement over the women's matches from a few years ago.

Professional players, better training facilities are all paying dividends.

It’s getting younger players coming through to improve the standard is the key, same as it is for men’s game, need young players to be taking it a step forward each generation … hopefully will go from strength to strength …

Have started really well and got the second goal before halftime, they didn't play well vs Hearts second half so lets go for a 3rd.

    Wow.

I didn't see this coming at all. I thought the league was all but gone but this is seriously impressive.

maybe not an excuse as such but i think the wind played it's part, hearts handled it better than Hibs

it's that scoreline at ER that should still rankle with the girls and i think they certainly did pick up after it

Fun seeing grumpy sevco fans in the background there as the teams left the field. More of the same next half please 👍

Under the cosh a bit. Tiring I think given the workrate up to now. Defence creaking somewhat. Unfortunately I think it’s only a matter of time.

I get the feeling this referee has a preferred team.
