Classy player, he can turn a game in a matter of seconds with his quick thinking and game intelligence, his goals v hearts and Dundee just shows he doesnt need to be on the pitch for 90 mins, if he has clever and energetic players around him then he will show his class as he did when receiving Bowies pass.

his work rate from the bench is different class sets the tone for the team
There was a point yesterday I think just before he scored, he chased almost back to half way line to press and made a tackle, the ball hit the Dundee player for a throw in to Hibs, Miller, I think then went to take a quick throw in and his grimace as he then realised he had to get back on his toes to get back towards the box was visible, but he did, and he was off.

You just knew he was going to score when he moved the ball, fantastic talent and another that just seems to be enjoying his time currently.

Gayle has done exactly what you want from someone like him coming in. Being there as a third or fourth pick he is absolutely brilliant. He’s only actually played 831 minute for us but contributed 5 goals and 4 assists. Some of them have been very important as well. The assist for Rocky v Aberdeen, the equaliser v Ross County right on half time (things could have been very different without that), winner at Tynecastle and got us a point at St Johnstone.

Guys quality , his finish yesterday was top drawer …

Great movement from Gayle for the goal, has definitely proved his worth this season and still a few more games to go.

Did get a chuckle at his celebration 💣

A NBA star did the celebration at the weekend and got fined and started the predictable Fox News pile on, so quite current. Maybe Dwight likes the bball

I was amazed that he was doing a ‘warm down’ after the match yesterday, that appeared very energetic. Maybe there’s life in the old dog yet!

I'm in two minds. He's been a more than worthy addition and has contributed very well, so I'd be happy to see more of him, esp if we get to Europe.

But at the same time, I assume he's one of the highest earners at the club, and the money we're spending on him could go a long way to top-ups or extensions for other players who are equally valuable but have more years left.

From all the comments I have heard or read he is definitely retiring at the end of the season.

Probably saves Hibs from making a difficult decision

That SOL versus Hearts when the players ran towards the East Gayle seemed to be really enjoying it and lapping it up with a wee run and leap and a GIRFUY towards the Hearts

Think he will defo retire but goes with our best wishes

    Welcome back anytime

None of us regulars are professional footballers I assume, but many of us over 35 know that feeling when five a side bumps and bruises are harder to recover from, or when you reduce your 10k to a 5k because your knees are aching and you start to make buying ibuprofen one of your weekly chores . A lot of players suffer from pain at the end of their careers and only he can really know. Hes been a sensational signing regardless, seems a good egg too

As I said earlier, I met him in Portobello and he said definitely retiring and fancies being an agent, wants time with his family.

His movement before he received the ball when he scored was class. A 10 yard burst of pace to come short dragged SP-H with him but as the ball was played beyond him to Bowie, he turns in a flash, knowing the space is there in behind him and he can then receive the ball from Bowie's touch inside in a far more dangerous area. Nice touch to nick it from Sylla and a lovely composed finish but it was that initial run and turn that impressed me most about that goal. SP-H never recovered to a point where he could make a challenge. Very smart thinking from a guy who is operating several steps ahead.

I think - unless they are skint, and I don't get that impression with him - players know when their legs, joints etc are telling them it's time.

He has a sublime touch and finish but if he wants to retire then that's fine.

I've seen him a couple of times down on Porty Prom. He walks like a man who's body has seen some action. Didn't speak with him, as he had family with him.
Gayle has done well at Hibs, he deserves a lot of plaudits for his efforts this season.

He said recently that he's always walked in a funny way. First time I saw him walk on to the pitch I did wonder.

Maybe Kwon has been giving him walking lessons

Don’t know if anyone else noticed him going mad at Campbell in about the 90th minute on Sunday. He’d given the ball away trying to play a pass that wasn’t really on. Once the ball had went dead, Gayle went looking for him. 4-0 up, 90th minute but still looking for things to be done right.

Brilliant! That's what we want from an ex-Premier League star. There are standards beyond what our guys usually aspire to.

Anyone know if there are any little hints that he could postpone his retirement for another season?

I want him to remain as a player, love his football intelligence, but if he is set on retiring, I cannot think of a better coach for our young strikers.

perhaps a scout/coach position could be offered?

Yeah Not the first time Ja has been in trouble but Dwight needs to put a bit more into his, score the winner vs the Huns and get that grenade into the Hun Dugout.

He wants to go home to his wife and kids so won’t be coaching in Scotland.

Tbf Ja Morant is an absolute moron who deserves the pile on.

For the length of time he spent in the EPL, it was a leap to join us. Could easily have packed it in.

However, yet another brought in who has made a difference in the short time he has been here.

    Will remember him.

I thought his wife’s business is in West Lothian, if not can’t blame him if he wants to move home

I think he said they were fairly settled in London now.

Maybe you’re thinking of SDG? His wife has a WL business?

DGs wife is a high end interior designer in the Home Counties, originally from Angus though
