Dwight is a young man. What I have noticed is a bit of a hip issue. He has to pump his arms hard in order to kick start his leg action.
I'm the same but I'm 70 next year.
As much as I love him and he clearly loves being here I fear that Doctors orders may take precedence over another year's contract.

Hoilett turns 35 just after this season ends and seems to be in better nick than Gayle with only his speed diminished but with awesome skill to compensate so he will play on.
I don't think it will be at Hibs but saying that his 20 minute cameos against tiring players are absolutely brilliant at the moment. Gets his foot on the ball with instant control and makes great decisons.Last edited by PHeffernan; 04-03-2025 at 11:59 AM.

I love that Gayle and Hoilett are enjoying their time at Hibs and in Scotland - it's quite surreal to watch really. I wish more top players were willing to drop a level or two to keep playing.

I wonder if Gayle would be interested in a coaching job at Hibs if he decides to hang up his playing boots?

Sounds like it's more or less a sure thing he's retiring after this season. Only thing that could remotely tempt him to push on 1 more year would be if we finish 3rd because he'd be jealous of the boys getting the chance to play on the European stage. Something he's surprisingly never experienced.
Give him a decision to make Hibs and grab that 3rd spot!
(Still think he'll retire regardless but it'll give us some hope to hold on too. Quality player!)

I suspect we have enough coaches at Hibs as it is.

As other posters have said he'll have such valuable experience that could help the likes of Bowie or any young academy lads breaking through and he's clearly quite tight in with the squad it would help keep come consistently into next season and he could potentially still come off the bench in times of need.
It probably won't happen but I could definitely see a case for that.

What a great guy Dwight is on Open Goal. And spoke about how SOL after the derby was a highlight of his career. Amazing.

He just seems like a top-top guy. Really humble.
Was thinking he might stick around for another year, not after watching that. Can't blame the guy for wanting to be with his kids.

Thing I found interesting is how often Joe Newell gets a mention as someone Gayle speaks to about fairly important things such as even the idea of moving weeks in advance and managing the Lambo to training to situation.
Probably a little insight to how well respected Joe is around the place and how proactive he is as a captain.

My partner sometimes works with someone very high up in the FA. Says Bruce is a grade A whopper.
