Was quite young at the Hands off Hibs rally but was it not sung that day ?

AEK will special atmosphere - I was at game but can’t remember when we sung it ? Must have been at the start ?

That’s another discussion - before or after games - of course many a time it’s after but we have sung it before at Hampden etc if the DJ plays it.

Villa Park was one of the best away day renditions.

Obviously 2016 tops it all - would give anything to go back then and sing it again.

As said above we don’t often get the players linked arms together like we did Sunday. Maybe this will carry on in future ?
2007 was far better than 2016.

Before the start of extra time
That's how I remember it too. I remember Paco Luna missed a late chance in normal time to win the tie for Hibs, but we had overturned a 2-0 deficit from the first leg by full time and the whole stadium was buzzing. The SoL was brilliant.

Of course, we were all deflated pretty quickly once extra time started and AEK scored. But it was good while it lasted!

That must have been the best rendition of SOL at ER since we started singing it, no?

Without doubt. I said that to my laddie as we were leaving. Another unique thing about Sunday was the fact that the players all stood in a line facing the East as it was belted out. Magical.
I thought that as well. It wasn't just that everybody stayed, but everyone seemed to want to absolutely smash it. I have been at every game it's been sung at 2007, 2016 etc etc but I doubt I've heard it done better

NOTE .... I wasn't there, but fair play to the folks who went to Villa Park and did it without the music ... not easy.

It was. At least 30k hibbies that day and first time it was played at Hampden. Awesome. Although 2016 wasn't too bad either.

Whenever I see that empty corner outside the East/North stand, all I can think of is how under utilised that area is.

    So many options surely?

Indeed ..... It must be the most valuable bit of waste ground in Edinburgh and why Hibs haven't tried to do something more meaningful with it than a matchday car park is a bit of a mystery to be honest. Hell, they could even level it and keep the car park with something built on top of it. Kind of like TESCO in Galashiels

That post sums them up perfectly. Thieving since 1888.

I also recall a fairly hefty chunk of our support chanting "USA, USA". It was about two weeks after the 9/11 attacks. I'm not sure what we'd chant about the USA now but I don't think it would be particularly supportive...

Incidentally, I seen a Jambo on X saying we don’t own our ground.

Automatically assumed he was talking out his hole, but can anyone confirm/deny?

Always after games. And only on certain occasions. A unique anthem that isn’t for playing any old time. I can never remember it being played at Hampden before a game. But I’m rarely in there more than half an hour before ko so maybe it has been played when the ground is pretty empty. Would seem a strange choice though.
SoL used to be played by a Hibs DJ BEFORE kick off in the late 80s after it's release and into the early 90s. Not every home game, maybe just big games. I think we had a tie up with Radio Forth, may have been Bill Barclay. The PA wasn't as good, on the East Terrace we gave it a good go but nothing like the recent performances. Was definitely played at the HoH event at ER, probably the Usher Hall gig too.

My seat in 2007, was quite close to Charlie Reid's that day, and he was bawling his eyes out at SoL. And who can blame him? It's magical, uplifting, heartfelt and gives me goosebumps every time, and makes me very very proud to be a Hibs supporter.

They don’t even own their own Training Centre Fact

Pretty sure I read somewhere we are building a new state of the art Training Centre with an indoor pitch for the first team

    Can anyone confirm ?

That was part of the AGM presentation yes. Also satellite facilities in the west side of Edinburgh and in Lanarkshire. I don’t remember the timescale mentioned but exciting times for the profile and development of the club.

It’s been my stock wynd up question all week to them…

Me - it’s a question I’ve always wanted to ask you lot.
    Yam - Go On
Me - See when you’re leaving ER, can you hear SOL clearly?
    Yam - silence…
Me - And is it loud?
    Yam - Silence or rage

It truly is a joy to behold.

Its a while ago but I started following home and away in 1979 and throughout the 80s and 90s barely missing a game. I still cannot recall SOL being played at ER even occasionally until the Mercer rally.
