The bit in bold is another thing that adds to the uniqueness. You can’t just turn up at ER and here it any time. Its spontaneous and only sung in certain moments. To hear it in the flesh, you just “have to be there” - in the moment.
Plus you don’t know when you will hear it next !

It’s like some sort of magical anthem and nothing better than singing it with the Hibs family showing club togetherness.

Gayle was unbelievable when he came on! He chased everything down and some of his crunching tackles were exactly what was required. He sang every word to SOL. He just seems to love it here.
I'm not usually in favour of that type of signing but Gayle has changed my mind. He was brilliant when he came on yesterday with superb energy and some really clever closing down. Hoillett in a totally different way was a big part of that last 10 minutes being easy street. Both have had a number of important contributions over the season.

For all the talk about disastrous transfer windows etc it has been a long time since our squad was a decent number, very balanced and obvious competition for places. The subs look hungry and that isn't just based on yesterday. Those involved in trimming the squad down and shaping it to have such good cover deserve a lot of credit

Over a million views of it on Hibs X in less than 24 hours. Hibs are massive.

Imagine being a Jambo. Even walking away from the stadium there would be no escaping it. Fantastic.
I had to leave right on the final whistle to get to work, could hear it being belted out all the way down St Clair street, magnificent.

I genuinely think scenes like yesterday with SOL and the attention it gets in the modern age could be a selling point for potential players. It shows our club in a great light.

Biased but who wouldn’t want to come and play football in front of that in one of the best cities in the world? Magic.

Love Joe Newell on the pitch at start of that getting the whole squad together and being a proper Captain - he just gets how important days like this is after many ones that did not go well...

Dwight Gayle at the end just loving it - when you consider hes played at St James's etc and other big clubs he was lapping it up - hope he signs another year as good older professionals set standards for younger ones to follow

A few months ago he said this would be his last season as a professional footballer, but we seem to be giving him cause to reconsider.

All depends if his body is up for it.

Triantis appeared to be wiping away tears after it was sung, yesterday. Hopefully it will persuade him to stay!

If we sing it after our victory on Sunday they will probably steal it and say they invented it themselves.

What makes SOL Special is the irregular nature of it, most Club Anthems are a weekly thing, generally before a match same time, same place, rinse and repeat, the fact SOL happens when it happens means for these football experience “Collectors” who tick off grounds etc, simply going to Easter Road for a Derby or attending a cup final doesn’t give you access to the full Sunshine On Leith Hibs Event it only gives you a % chance of getting that and that’s what it’s all about 💚

Loved watching the passion on the players faces when they were belting it out, watched Bowie trying to sing, unsure if he was either caught up in the moment or his lips were on the wrong way 🤣

The 400,000 ‘Famouses’ watching it two and a half times before going off for a good cry.

Spot on. I personally don’t want to hear it again until we have either won the cup, or the next time they visit Easter Road. There is nothing better than watching them stream out spewing, whilst 3 stands belt out Sunshine on Leith. It makes it all the more special, that it is used sparingly, when it really matters.

The SoL back to backs this last week has annoyed all the right dafties.

Folks of all persuasions tying themselves in knots over either

    * swearing it's not even close to (insert song of their own club) - aye mainly The Tribute Actors

    * celebration police acting as sole arbitors of acceptable conduct post wins (Rover driving, sweater wearing Gorgie dwelling bores)

    * Orcs

Bizarre analyses including what postcode Easter Road is in and how the song isn't accurate...yup, it annoys all the right people 👏🤣💚

It's absolutely hilarious when they start arguing about the postcodes, and the boundaries between Leith and Lochend... so pathetic and reveals they have hit the absolute bottom of the barrel.

Other crackers include "make your minds up, are you an Edinburgh team or a leith team?"... well since Leith has been in Edinburgh for over a century now, how about both? You absolute roasters!

I got a message from a Geordie colleague today as I was on A/L yesterday saying how class SOL is and it's been all over his social media feed

He has little to no interest in Scottish football as well. Great how much media attention this is getting

  28. #87
Looks like the video of SOL on Hibs X has over 2.3 million views.

And Middlesbrough. Seems to have sparked a few discussions about others clubs' own anthems.
