My favourite band, Breaking Benjamin, just dropped a new song yesterday - Awaken.

If my listen count is below 50 at this point I'd be surprised. Instant nostalgiac sound and a heavier sound in places...absolutely in love and hoping this is kicking off a new album build-up.

Not listening but reading an enjoyable book by Michael Faber called Listen. Unlike most books about music this isn't a list of what they like, it looks at how music can shape us from the earliest age. It starts with 'the mozart effect' and goes from there.
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

They’ve been my go-to for having on in the background in the house for a while now.

New album from High Tropics out, listening to it just now, pretty good so far.

Paul Heatons new album The Mighty Several. The lyrics are just superb. Following Jacqui Abbots sabbatical he’s supported on stage by young Scottish singer Rianne Downie.

Rianne has a fantastic voice, she supported him at Glastonbury too and she performed as if she and Paul had been singing together for years.

    She definitely has.

I’m hoping they bring their acoustic tour to Scotland.

Listening to 'From Zero' - Linkin Park's new album. I've been a fan of LP since they were called Hybrid Theory (just before they changed to LP and released the album Hybrid Theory) - I absolutely love the new sound and the new album is excellent IMO. I can hear nods to every single era of their history sonically.

Dusting off some vintage vinyl tonight.
Billon Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper from the days when Alice Cooper was the name of the band. Good old fashioned Glam Rock at it's best.

Maybe not the right thread for this but I’ve played this for years and came across it earlier today. Beatles nostalgia and very clever.

    Nice.

(I just couldn't resist, apologies. My punishment is the realisation as I typed it that the majority of posters will be too young to get the reference. )

I was listening to a lot of new vinyl that appeared in the house at the end of last year. 😉

All very good, but one disappointment, Double album by Chappell Roan only has 3 sides, side D is blank!!

If you like podcasts and music, especially the Beatles, there’s one called UnBeatled. It’s a guy ( from Edinburgh I think) and Beatles experts who dissect and discuss the music, lyrics and influences of a different Beatles track each time. So far they’ve done Please Please Me, Here Comes The Sun, Help, Lady Madonna, She Loves You, Yellow Submarine and Penny Lane. It’s very good and easy listening.

They’re certainly promoting it heavily. I’ve seen them on at least 4 tv shows in the last week.

Heard a remix on Craig Charles' Funk and Soul Show of Spanish Moon by Little Feat. One of my favourite songs by one of my all-time favourite bands.

It's by a guy called Andy Buchan, who I think is Scottish.

My problem is that I can't decide whether it is one of the Feat themselves singing, or Robert Palmer. They have a history together, as RP used LF as his band for his first 2 albums, and was rumoured to have been courted as their lead singer. He also does a version of Spanish Moon, but I'm not sure it's this one.

So... any Little Feat/Robert Palmer geeks out there who can help?

Free 20 year anniversary version of Earlimart's classic Treble And Tremble album with bonus tracks, although doubt if many on here will have heard of them going by this thread!

Been trying to build up my The Beatles vinyl collection. Spent the last few days listening to what I have. Think it’s between Revolver and Sargent Peppers for my favourite.

Awaiting the new Architects album in February - they've released 4 tracks from it so far and they're back to being ferociously heavy again.

New single today, Blackhole, is incredible.
