If Ukraine had just rolled over when Putin invaded it, no-one would have died in that war. So I guess Trump is right, the war and the Ukrainian and Russian deaths were all Zelenskyy's fault.

A channel called Adam Mockler came up on my YouTube feed last night. He seems to make videos that point out how stupid Trump voters are. He has a few where he's found federal workers that have been fired by DOGE that are posting on social media complaining about being fired when they have plenty of posts up to that point agreeing with everything Trump says/does (including about "draining the swamp"). He says that (despite his name) he isn't trying to mock those that have lost their job but is pointing out how brainwashed a lot of these people are. There was even somebody begging Trump on social media to give them their job back as they weren't one of the woke extreme left

Just watched the argument he had with Zelensky in the oval office. Trump is truly unhinged. Absolutely medically insane.

Jings. Following the Zelensky / Trump meeting. It's going pear-shaped. Trump telling Z that he's being disrespectful, and if he doesn't agree to a deal (based on the minerals), they're out and there'll be WW3. Reminds him that the US has all the cards and Z has none. Voices are raised. JDV doesn't think Z is sufficiently grateful.

Not a lawyer, but is this not extortion? Or a souped up geo-political version of, "Can I mind yer car, Mister?" ?

Zelesky tells Trump not to make a compromise with a killer. (Putin)

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a presser like that. Trump and Vance are mental and dangerous. Fair play to Zelensky for facing up to them

That was a disaster from Zelensky. He wound them up. Constantly talking over both Trump and Vance. He’s not half made a meal of things now. It wasn’t standing up for anything, he was simply rude. At their place too. Not what anyone would’ve been hoping for.

Im laughing at this in the same way you’d sheepishly laugh at someone running naked along Princes Street going “weeee-oooo, weee-oooo”.

    Utterly ****ing bonkers.

The whole thing is a nightmare. I admire Zelensky for standing up to Trump and Vance’s bullying but he’s farting against thunder. If Trump decides to pull the plug on any sort of aid for Ukraine, and I think he will, the war will soon be over. Putin wins, get’s chunks of Ukraine and gets carte blanche to further advance on the countries he wants to Russianise. Where does that leave NATO? Full scale war?

Just saw a notification saying that Zelensky has been ‘turfed’ out of the White House as he is not ready for peace.

It's not as clear as that. Europe currently provides more support to UKR than the US does, and they will provide more in future; Putin and his forces are struggling. Without US support the war will continue, but it's not a given that Putin wins, IMO.

This is a disaster for Ukraine. The lapdog Vance did my head in also.

But what was Zelensky thinking. Just take it on the chin. This is the survival of his country we are talking about.

He must know Trump is awful, thin skinned and vindictive. He had to be more Starmer.

Thing is, this just confirms how in bed Trump and MAGA is with Putin.

Moscow must be rubbing its hands.

To be honest, I was wondering when I heard Trump how much of that was for the benefit of the TASS reporter in the Oval Office / Putin.

I think it would have been better if Zelensky hadn't gone to DC at all. He's not dealing with honest brokers, and even so, was there much in it for Ukraine?
In terms of how he handled the exchange, calm without looking submisssive might have been more wise. But he's not the only one playing to a domestic audience. I've not got any idea what the home expectations were of the visit. I did hear an opposition politician sticking up for him the other day and saying that any deal needed to favour Ukraine interests. Maybe Steve C knows?

I recall recently, reading but not accepting, that Trump could conceivably take sides with Putin by supplying arms, if he could get it past Congress. I don’t think he is quite as crazy as that but it’s terrifying that this sort of scenario is up for discussion.

America shut off all aid last year for about 4 months and it was still a stalemate. Biden sent enough supplies at the end of his term to supply Ukraine until December. This week European nations have announced about £10 billion. The good thing about this is it will wake Europe up. Europe's economy obviously dwarfs Russias, they should never rely on the US

It makes Starmer’s invitation to the UK for Trump look disgusting it should be rescinded

Complete set up. Hugely disrespectful to a guy whose country has been illegally attacked Europe needs to step up more than ever. Starmer yesterday handing over some letter from the king thinking this was some huge gift. Now embarrassing toasting to Trump given todays events

Right Europe, America are out, totally and utterly discount them going forward and give Ukraine what they need.

I’m quite staggered by that. Zelensky is a better man than me, I think I would punched his **** in by the time it was over.

Not sure where you get that from? Ukraine can keep fighting so long as Europe steps up and fills the gap. No more money was ever going to come from the US. It’s up to Europe now.

Take it on the chin? You think he should agree to sign away his country's wealth to the US with no guarantees of support from Trump because Trump promises his friend Putin won't attack again? Yeah right.

0.13% of GDP is all it costs Europe to fund Ukraine. A bargain at that price.

I think you underestimate how deep Trump is in Putin's pocket. As far as Trump is concerned, the world can burn as long as he gets to stay in power. He's dismantling US democracy in front of everyone and the world is unable to do a single thing about it.
