Has anyone been following this on youtube ? Quite astonishing how the locals there are existing with very little or no input from local government.
Jaywick is a seaside town not far from London and was originally set up as a seaside retreat with wooden chalets etc but then with the arrival of cheap package holidays the place fell into disrepair and folk were offered to purchase their chalets for as little as £20k.
However when a lot of folk sold out to a local landlord he started letting the houses to ex prisoners, drug addicts, folk fleeing domestic abuse etc. The chalets are crumbling vermin infested **** holes with some of them barely habitable.
Violence, alcoholism, drugs and housebreakings are a regular occurrence with high unemployment amongst its 5000 inhabitants. Youtube have been following locals for many years to get their stories with many of the good locals striving to help others too.
This place puts the black hole of Calcutta to shame 🫨

I saw a video on it a couple of years back, I'm guessing it's not got much better, looked like a bit of a hole, was also a shame as there seemed to be genuine people who lived there and took care of their house etc but they have just all been shat on by the antisocial element that got moved in

I remember watching a programme called Britain's Roughest Towns on Sky a few years ago, I'm sure the place featured in one of the episodes, quite understandably too.
