    Brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

She has just been put on a list.
Pretty much spot on. Very brave words and good on her for that pity a few more people didn’t show the same level of integrity and courage

Aye but he's said there is only 2 genders and you can't put a price on that.

Hopefully some of those who voted for him and will now struggle to afford essential medicines can take some comfort in that fact.
This is the sort of things Americans deserve for the next 4 years. There are consequences in life.

The pardoning of all of the J6 rioters is really pretty staggering, and has immediately made America a much more dangerous place for many people.

Which of course is the point of that **** doing it, but that country’s descent into the depths is well underway.

I’m curious to know with whom the power of pardon lies with in the UK. The precedent of no or limited punishment for crimes committed in the name of a political candidate is unbelievably dangerous, and it’s terrifying to think where we may end up in the next few years.
The thing that scares me about it is the lack of avenues open to the good guys to counter it.

Rise above it and you risk getting beaten back by force. Lower to his level and you’re just the same as him.

It’s tempting to criticise those who have maybe been meek in opposition and allowed his rise but in truth, it’s hard to see at times what could have been done differently without being open to accusations of doing all the things we’re rightly castigating Trump for - presidential pardons etc.

I wonder if Biden could have done more post Jan 6 to prevent a Trump revival? There really should have been no way back for him from there.

Biden operates at half pace for everything. No way it should have taken 4 years to bring him to court. He deserves the hate coming his way for letting this happen.

    Incredibly clever too though.

She’s in a privileged position where she can speak honestly without fear of reprisal. The good ol’ Christians of the USA probably wouldn’t take kindly to a savage attack on her.

Good words, well chosen and a point very well made at a very important moment in time.

(Soon to be) Former President Donald Trump

Facebook now making people follow Trump and Vance.
Think I’ll delete it tonight. Haven’t missed X, doubt I’ll miss Facebook either. There will be a replacement along soon enough anyway.

It kind of feels a bit like the heroin/HIV epidemic of the 80s.

2 or 3 decades before there had been scare stories and propaganda about cannabis and warnings that just one joint could send you on a downward spiral of drug abuse, delirium and death. Then came LSD and the same warnings but this time with added 'you'll think you can fly and jump off a building'. Around the same time as heroin really took off ecstasy came along and that was the same, just one pill would kill you and it was the most dangerous drug ever. All nonsense of course but many were so desensitised to the warnings that when a genuinely dangerous drug like heroin took off many didn't heed them. When it became clear in this instance it was gravely dangerous it was too late.

Trump feels similar. People have heard 'fascist' or 'Nazi' thrown about for years. Sometimes justified, other times hyperbole. But now we have people who may be worthy of the name. Modi, Trump, Musk, Farage........ and I think many are a bit disbelieving because they have 'heard it all before'. It's a dangerous place to be in and the opposition to Trump and his ilk really needs to be better. If the best that can be offered as an alternative is another Biden, Harris, Starmer or similar then the rise of the right is going to continue like a juggernaut.
Was talking just yesterday about how the many people who highlighted at the start of his first term that this is how fascism starts, were criticised for being OTT and/or diminishing the effects of literal fascists throughout history.

Well, here we are in 2025, with a president who has just consolidated the private militia that was formed in his name when he instigated the insurrection in 2021, and is governing via executive order - and going after every possible minority. We've even had two actual Nazi salutes during the inauguration.

I think you are spot on in your assessment about people being desensitised to the warnings, and how dangerous that is. But the warnings were spot on.

Ironically if he had, then he may have been guilty of what Trump kept accusing him of - but wasn't. He could have directed Merrick Garland to work much more quickly than he did. If I remember correctly, they only started the investigations of Trump after he announced he was running again. So it was the presumption that he'd be in the political wilderness after J6 that was extremely foolish and dangerous.

It does feed into your point about not wanting to stoop to the levels of the opposition, and trying to take the high road. Republicans do no such thing and look where it's got each respective side. It turns out the race to the bottom and the pathway to victory were one and the same. Unbelievably depressing.

The Republican party takes the blame for pretty much all of this. Their utter shamelessness through all of this, is how we have ended up where we are. Once they fully embraced Trump again, they simply won the (mis)information war, and constantly threw so much mud that loads stuck. Many, many people saw the Democratic party as how the Republicans have constantly painted them for the last decade, despite how detached from reality that is.

Evangelicals who embrace Trump have zero principals. He is their God.

Their apparent religious devotion is really only an interest in controlling the lives and actions of others. They'll have no qualms about going after her, and many already have.

Freedom of speech only applies in certain contexts for these ****ers.

I'd be stunned if she is Catholic, unless our liberal (by Catholic standards) Pope has gone rogue

Every chance she could be Anglo-Catholic right enough which is theologically not far removed.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned in the 7000 odd previous posts but a podcast on BBC Sounds called The Coming Storm gives an insight into the MAGA hive mind.

More of a child-baby really. Does he really not understand the difference between asylum seekers and mental hospital patients, or is he just being clever with his moron base? It's hard to tell with infants.

I’m not as convinced as some others that it’s cut and dried that choosing these words with this person is going to go down well with the entirety of his following.

Remember - this is a nation who have voted him out before, as well as voting him in twice.
