Watched Toy Story 3 for the first time in a long time.

The story, visuals, characters, the suspense at the end and the jokes are all spot on.

These Pixar films are all 100 times better than any critically acclaimed oscar winning movie imo.

    Utter genius!
To be fair, it was nominated for Best Picture and won Best Animated feature. Loads of other awards and all the critics loved the first three. Our family return to it all the time. It’s unquestionably the best trilogy ever.

Good shout. Empire has it number 4. I wouldn't have Star Wars, Back to the Future, or Lord of the Rings in front of it personally. Although something further down their list like Indiana Jones and The Dollars trilogy are probably more my thing.

    Probably John Wayne's best film.

The Apartment (Billy Wider) was on terrestrial TV before Christmas circa midnight. Despite the fact it's easily accessible to stream and I own the DVD I find it impossible not to watch the whole film once I start. It'll doubtless have been mentioned on here before but it's one of the all time greatest movies.

It’s one of the very few perfect films.

    Jaws!

It's on itv4 all the time and I sit and watch it all the time so naturally did the same last night. The scenes with Scheider, Shaw and Dreyfuss on the boat are outstanding and it's still bloody scary (the head!!)

    Brilliant.

I’m sure there’s an interesting story from Spielberg about Jaws becoming the film it is partly through luck. There were issues with the animatronic shark and because of that the film changed to being more psychological and for the better seeing less of the actual shark.

Yeah I've heard that too. You spend most of your time on the edge of your seat and terrified at the sight of 3 yellow barrels moving in the water lol.

    So good!

Yeah he was forced to switch to doing a lot of hinted threats, rather than showing the shark directly. So things like the person getting pulled under the water, but you can’t really see what’s doing it etc.

As has been said, you spend more time focussed on some yellow barrels as a proxy for the shark, but that adds to the tension as you know it’s something dangerous but can’t see it

We watched wicked last night, Ariana Grande looks ill (which with everything that’s happened in her life, wouldn’t be surprising) and the film is generally brutal. I hate musicals, she loved it though. What a waste of two and a bit hours that was.

You were never going to like it if you hate musicals 😆

It’s one of the best movie musicals ever made… and it’s only part 1!

I like musicals but have never liked her

Is she a something soprano or whatever?

Edit: noticed a few online saying she changed her singing voice for the movie ??

Anyway saw Donny Osmond at the Playhouse last week doing his Elvis impersonation absolute quality

Quick Google says that AG has a naturally high vocal range meaning she can hit high notes many singers can't.

I don't mind the odd musical. Oliver! The original Wizard of OZ. I've got a couple of Bing Crosby things on the watch list.

For some reason I just don't fancy this. I guess the trailer looked like the prequel we didn't need, for the harry Potter generation.

I was saved from further torture when my IPTV froze could not be arsed rebooting it decided to watch something else which is not like me as my motto is ‘ persevere ‘

Edit: In fairness struggling to find a bad review I did find one other poor tone deaf soul who agreed with my opinion 😀

In retaliation for last nights cruel and unusual punishment, tonight I am subjecting the good lady to Star Trek II. Great film, one of my all time favourites, justice is done

The best musical ever has to be The Blues Brothers. All other answers are wrong 😀
