    Christmas Tunes

I’m going to presume we can all agree Fairytale Of New York is the finest Christmas song ever written…

But other than that, what’s your favourite Christmas song? I love a bit of Stop The Cavalry, which interestingly wasn’t intended to be a Christmas song. Does that mean I’m cheating? Doesn’t matter it’s my question and I can answer as I see fit. Merry Christmas Hibbys

Driving Home for Christmas brings back great memories of driving home to Liverpool on Christmas Eve for 20 odd years before I lost my parents.Always had it on several times during the journey.

Merry Xmas Everybody is number 1 for me. Brenda Lee singing like a 50 year old at age 13 is tremendous too.

Big fan of Merry Xmas Everybody as well, specifically the Oasis cover. Outstanding.

Xmas Curtain by My Morning Jacket. But obviously it's not a traditional Christmas song.

Last Christmas is probably the one you never really get fed up with. Most of them I don't ever want to hear again.

I do quite like the George Michael one December Song - doesn’t get much airplay mind you.
You know who I’ve barely heard on the radio this year? Cliff Richard. Wonder if his Xmas tunes are being phased out.

I always put the crooners doing Christmas on. ‘The Christmas Song’ by Nat King Cole is superb.

‘I Was Born on Christmas Day’ by St Etienne is a great alternative.

For a Carol, has to be ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.

There is a great Frasier episode where Martin is rehearsing 'Oh Holy Night'. He visits the church a lot and everyone thinks he's dieing. And he cannot hit the high note for love nor money.

Anyway, on the back of that I heard Mariah Carey singing the same song. She hits the high notes just fine!

Never a big fan of hers and it isn't even her big Xmas song. I love it though.

A Spaceman Came Travelling is up there with my favourites but Fairytale of New York is the winner for me.

Fav Christmas album is Frank Sinatras.

Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree

Streets ahead of Mariah Carey's screeching in the pop divas category.

I used to be a real bah humbug barsteward about Christmas until total apathy took over. So I loved Kevin Bloody Wilson's "Hey Santa Claus" for its pure offensiveness. The only Christmas song I really like is Fairytale of New York and after hearing it played everywhere constantly (especially the muzak versions played in supermarkets and shops) I am usually sick of that by the time the 25th comes around.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Away in a Manger sung by kids. Gets me every time.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,

She's alright for a singer with a meagre three octave range. That screeching is supposed to be world class singing in the "whistle register" over an impressive five octaves. Rolling Stone appreciates it, if not yourself.
