Drones over USAF/RAF bases down south

Anyone else fascinated by these stories of drones hovering above US airbases down south? Plenty of videos going about showing them buzzing aboot before going dark and disappearing off. Surely both the US and UK have electronic warfare equipment that could be deployed to stop them.

Who is operating them, from where and why? Got to imagine it's Russia or China making a statement that they can do this on foreign soil with impunity.

I'm going down the conspiracy rabbit hole with this now.
