yep saw that clip on twitter, i can't make up my mind if he says they horrible things just to whip up his cultists or if he truly is a deplorable PoS

i'm going to settle for the latter

Just heard this on the radio.

Spectacularly poor. Especially as you can hear him ranting away in the background while the mics are muted
"...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

If you read the BBC website, Vance won and was really polished - with a small passing reference to muted mics and fact checking.

I think most people would say he had a better night as he was a better performer. He also told more lies and Walz prob had the best moment when he got Vance to not admit that Biden won in 2020.

I've just finished watching the whole thing, I'd say it was pretty even, Vance was way more reasoned and sensible than I thought he would be, Walz seems sensible, pragmatic and a thoroughly decent guy, the difference is I think Walz was being sincere and Vance was toning it down big time on purpose

Exactly how I saw it, you don't have to dig too deep, or fact check too deep to realise Vance says what he thinks might help Vance even if it involves a complete lie/change of an apparently deeply held position.

For example his previous position on the big fat orange guy he is slithering to replace.

No one asks him about Mike Pence. As in, "JD, why do you think Pence isn't endorsing your Orange boss this time around."

Yeah it is what was said, saw a clip of it on Twitter.

When he finishes speaking, the presenter says something like ‘for the benefit of the viewers, many Haitians in the area have legal basis for residing there’, and Vance jumps in, ranting about how the rules were that no fact checking was to be done.

Interesting message being presented when a candidate complains about his words being fact checked

I think what was agreed was there would be no live fact checking on air.

Here’s the BBC fact check on the pair of them.

The BBC here treating Trump as an equally valid candidate. Yet another example of BBC helping the Trump side.

People wanting Trump jailed so he can’t stand for election has a bit of the smell of the Kremlin about it.

I'm amazed he hasn't been at least barred from standing due to trying to overthrow the democratic process. "Can you just find me 10,000 votes", or words to that effect.

The electoral court in Brazil acted swiftly to do this to Bolsonaro after he tried similar actions.

    Agreed.

Asking to have him charged and jailed, if guilty, for his crimes is a whole different thing, though.

You can stand for president from jail, there is no rule against it, you just wouldn't be able to vote for yourself

He’s a first time offender who’s conviction for a non-violent crime has been appealed.

Nobody gets held in prison in those circumstances except maybe in Saudi Arabia.

It’s an interesting scenario. How would people feel about Alex Salmond if he’d been taped asking for 10,000 votes from a counting officer at some election?

    Totally normal behaviour.

I'd expect him to be charged and jailed. If he had incited a crowd of armed insurrectionists to storm Holyrood to stop the peaceful transfer of power I'd expect him to be charged with treason and jailed.

    First offender?

    https://apnews.com/article/trump-trial-deliberations-jury-testimony-verdict-85558c6d08efb434d05b694364470aa0

    34 guilty verdicts.

Change the name, and that could be said of anyone whose views we don't agree with.

His ideology and antics may be horrendous to you (and me, FTR), but enough people have voted for him in the past to make him a valid candidate, and entitled to a balanced media view.

Michael Cohan for the exact same crime? The exact same?

A local elections official who became a hero to election deniers was sentenced to nine years in prison on Thursday for leading a voting system data-breach scheme inspired by the rampant false claims that fraud altered the 2020 presidential outcome.
