Don't mind it so much when it's Hibs doing it 😉

In fairness to Dundee United, Hibs put in as complete a performance as you'll see tonight, even with the gulf in talent. The girls all look well-motivated.
We have a lot of depth in this squad. A job well done tonight.

It’s awful. And the hibs HT is embarrassing also. Womens football is in serious trouble. I’m sure I read that Swpl will go to 8 next season. Have that. Call it the pro league. And stop kidding on the rest is any better than recreational football.
Maybe check the record books back when the men’s game was establishing itself. As the number of girls / women participating increases results were start to stabilise.

That won’t happen in the women’s game. Top talent will leave quickly and more foreign players will come in. Development of the girls is suffering. No shortage of teams and people taking part but the level is going backwards. Will only have a negative impact on national teams. U17s /19s will never compete at top level. I’ve been watching for 15 years and as a nation it’s going backwards for me.

I do agree with you about the leagues and national set ups..

Looked at tonight’s starting team line ups..

    Rangers - 8 Scottish players
    Celtic - 4 Scottish players
    Hibs - 8 Scottish players
    Hearts - 5 Scottish players

The issue is the SWPL doesn’t really test them compared to Weir and Cuthburt etc playing at higher levels.

Rangers and Celtic have loads out on loan at the other clubs. But going somewhere and getting pumped doesn’t help development. They are also going to teams with poorer coaching setups. I’m surprised Kirsty McLean took another 2 years at rangers. She needs to move on.

Rangers and Celtic already nailed on for 1st and 2nd, just like the mens league.
Glasgow City, Hearts and Hibs nailed on for 3rd to 5th, probably in that order ... again.
Partick Thistle and Motherwell making a fist of it in 6th and 7th.
With the rest getting a 5-10 goal shoeing every time they play the top 5.

Aberdeen lost the girl that scored all their goals in the summer but there is no excuse for a wealthy club to allow their womens team to be so poor.
Colin Bell wouldn't have been a cheap acquisition but to give him nothing to work with was just plain daft. I presume he quickly realised there was no chance of even being competitive and decided to leave.

Hibs look a much better team this season, even without last seasons star player, with Grant Scott really making a difference now.
Very impressive start but i'm waiting until the game on the 30th August to pass meaningful judgement.

Still no sign on the pitch of full time player Rachael Boyle, who continues to make Kyle Magennis look reliable. Kyle has always played at least 13 games a season in his perma crock years. It's many years since Rachael played that many games.
Been out injured for 18 months now, expected to see her back at the start of this season.

Very solid win, 'Well gave Celtic a decent game last time out.
Splitting The Rangers & Celtic in second place, albeit after 4 games & we have still to play the 'big' three.

Thoroughly professional performance in atrocious conditions.

Team looks in a good place, albeit we've still to play any of the bigger sides.

Dundee Utd have played 3 games too date

    Torched:
    6-0 by Hibs
    8-0 by Hearts
    9-0 by Celtic
    and
    play Rangers next weekend.
Another scudding of between 8 and 12 goals to nought an absolute certainty.

Meanwhile Hibs play their first real match of the season on Friday after 4 processions.

I noticed some of the scores this weekend, ridiculous gulf between sides competing in the same league does nothing for the credibility of the women's game up here.

    Several 5-0's, an 9-0 and an 8-0.

If the mens team were winning 6-0 or 7-0 every week, the place would be full, is this free scoring womens team getting improved crowds?

  19. #2388
I'm definitely going to be getting along more this season. They look a much better side this year. I hope more decide to come along too.

It's got a lot worse since Rangers and Celtic got involved. It's created three leagues within a league. The big two, those who can accommodate some level of salaries and the rest. Anything that drives up standards in the women's game here is good to a certain extent but things are currently too imbalanced.

Think we'll see an 'elite' type top league formed before too long. The Hibs team is certainly worth going along to watch. More enjoyable than the men at the moment!

You've looked to make this point a few times already this season but you overlook the context of the Partick result on the first game of the season. Last season we played them 6 times, we lost 3, drew 1, and won 2. So it was by no means a 'procession' this time around.

Absolutely. Partick were a bit of a bogey team last season but also very well organised.

It should be a procession given the difference in budgets but Brian Graham continues to have his team punching well above the sum of it's parts. Partick along with Motherwell appear to be the only teams not to be destroyed by the comparitively wealthy top 5 clubs.
Hibs are playing better this season than they have for a few years but we will see a truer picture in 3 of their next 4 league games.
The procession stops with a stern test on Friday.

The team at the top of the league currently have a goal difference of 33 after 4 games and the team at the bottom of the league have a goal difference of -23 after 3 games. Both those stats are wild in the context of a top tier league and those clubs play each other at the weekend. Another 8 to 10 goal beating for Dundee Utd is almost a certainty.
A reduction of the league to 10 teams would significantly reduce the number of beatings currently being sustained by the relatively budgetless clubs.

Should go down to 8 maximum. And stop the nonsense of calling the league below the Prem League 2.

This is all true, but it doesn't belie the fact Partick largely had our number last season, and times before that, so it wasn't a game where we can just rock up and roll over the top of them. It was a good win against a well-organised, determined side.

We also dropped points against Dundee United around this time last season. So there's nothing wrong with enjoying it and recognising the improvement and strong start, everyone is aware harder games lie ahead, but to act like the season hasn't really started for us yet isn't true.

Been to a few of these in the past. Good one to take the family to if you have young kids.

All about people I guess, if Ciara doesn't know what happened no-one else is likely to but
as a bottom line, it's been to Hibs benefit & says a lot about her strength of character to have made the move to us. GG
