The hobbit - if you watch LOTR and love it, then yes. If you don't then no.
Avengers - I enjoyed watching them as they came out, but don't think I'd sit through them all in a row

You should watch the extended versions and just treat it like a TV show. 1-2 hours per sitting and it'll be done in 10 hours or so. Some of the best films of all time. Or even better if you can, watch them at the cinema.
Hobbit films aren't great and Marvel films are good but probably not worth the time to work back on the dozen or so films that lead into the last Avengers films.
LOTR is incredible though.

I liked the LOTR films well enough. Didn't stick with the tv series.
Watched Doctor Strange movie because Benedict Cumberbatch was in it. Liked it. Watched the sequel - had no idea what was going on. The protagonists had all been involved in other movies in the meantime, so I was lost. Unless you watch the lot and in the right order, I wouldn't bother with any.

Was flicking through an old drive I have and found a new thing to watch and something to rewatch. So I started re-watching The Mentalist, it was an American series about 'psychic/mentalist' turned police consultant that helped the Californian Bureau of Investigation solve crimes, I loved it first time around and got right back into it. If you've not watched it before it is worth a wee watch if you're into crime fiction, no blood and guts, no swearing just prime time American TV doing what it is meant to do, entertain. The clips are popular on TikTok I am told.
The new thing I found started in 2019, I am surprised I never seen this at the time but it was on Disney+ so thats probably the reason. It is The Godfather of Harlem a bio (loosely based on his life) series about Bumpy Johnson a black crime boss who comes back to Harlem after a 10 year jail term. Only watched the first one but it was a beauty, great cast lead by Forest Whittaker and Vincent D'Onofrio both of whom rank high on my list of favourite actors. Can see myself getting hooked on this, there is three seasons to enjoy. I really hope it keeps up the standard of the first episode! This one is not for the faint hearted, lots of swearing and violence, language used is of its time and place.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

The 8 Show on Netflix. A slow burner to begin with but gripping once it gets going.
Do you think your security can keep you in purity, you will not shake us off above or below. Scottish friction, Scottish fiction

dunno how i let this one slip through but i noticed a Squid Game-The Challenge when i was looking through my IPTV TV shows last weekend so binge-watched the 10 episodes, really enjoyed it, it was actually released last November
and was the most watched on Netflix and number one in 74 countries winner won $4.56m, largest ever for a reality TV show, though filmed in UK it seemed to be mostly yank contestants

Id recommend Concrete Utopia and Badland Hunters too, post apocalyptic films set in a destroyed Seoul. Well worth a watch.

The feature length documentaries the BBC are doing in the run up to the Olympics are really good. Been one about Daley Thompson and Linford Christie so far. The latter in particular was pretty harrowing viewing, the racism he faced from the press was unreal. Not sure if there are any others planned but these 2 are both excellent.

Snowfall.... I hadn't heard of this series before but it apparently started in 2017. Based around the introduction of crack cocaine in LA in the 80s and the gangs involved in that. I'm addicted (no pun intended), 6 series to get through on BBC Iplayer and the soundtrack alone is worth the watching of it.
