Hibee / Stubbsy craic at The Open in Troon

Just a little shout out to the Hibees who were on stage & in the audience at the Fan Village in Troon for the Open last weekend

Was a reminder that Sport has a unique capacity to bring out the very best in people

When it emerged there were a good number of Everton fans & Hibbies in the Fan Zone there was a throwaway line about everyone being "welcome in The Alan Stubbs Appreciation Society"

One lad then got quite emotional telling everyone that as a teenager he had suffered a rare form of cancer, and before you knew it the club had been aware of this & next thing there's Alan Stubbs on the phone - not only wishing the lad well but saying here's my number, I know how it feels to go through the treatment, the diagnosis, the hard times, the impact on people around you...but how amazing & important a positive mindset is for tackling that illness.

The story finished with the great news of the boys full recovery but no doubt about it - the informal & unofficial Alan Stubbs Appreciation Society was a joy to experience at The Open.

If you were there too, thanks & hope you enjoyed the weekend
