    All these clowns defending Pickford

Take your John Bull glasses off and do the one simple thing - look at the goals he conceded

Case in point France's opener in Qatar

Pickford loses the same goal A LOT

Exhibit B - the exact same goal v Denmark in Euro 2024

You win nothing with Bang Average goalies
I've only seen Hibs win things with bang average goalies.

Pickford is a very good keeper.

Suppose if it's judged on World Cups, Pele has a far better record and performed better in them all round. Until Argentina won the last World Cup Messi hadn't always been at his best IMO. That grates on me, as I regard Messi as a truly brilliant player, but for me didn't perform as well in World Cups as Pele or Maradonna. Nowadays the Champions League is regarded as important as the World Cup IMO, but the European Cup before it, while still a hugely important tournament, doesn't seem to have the same kudos, and that's possibly down to money. So because we have access to more football nowadays, often our opinion of greatness is coloured by more recent teams and performers. It's just my opinion, and obviously you have a different one, but I should underline that I still regard Messi as one of the greatest footballers of all time
Messi was excellent in 2014 world cup, really good.

You can't judge the best ever on 4 weeks every 4 years imo. Messi was putting up 60 goal seasons for 10 years at the highest level.

Messi scored 27 goals in major tournaments for Argentina, reaching 7 finals. (WC or copa America). Maradona scored 12. He literally batters maradona internationally in every possible way.

Pele had a brilliant record in world cups, no doubt. But Messi still scored more goals in the world cup than Pele. If that was Pele at his best, and Messi wasn't at his best, what does it say?

Guy is just miles clear in any statistical way. May not be your favourite but there is zero logical argument against him being clear imo.

Do respect the opinions on who was better to watch etc. Messi certainly not my favourite to watch, but his accomplishments are literally unmatched.

Only 3 of the team for the 2018 World Cup semi-final started the game on Sunday. They've been steadily evolving and could arguably get even stronger.
Even stronger than what though?Yes they reached the final and only lost it to a late goal, but even a lot of England fans accept they were mediocre at best for most of that tournament and were probably fortunate to go as far as they did.Certainly a different manager may bring them the success that their players are certainly capable of but some people are talking as if it's an inevitability that they will win something soon. It isn't.

I've got Spurs membership so managed to get 2 in the away end as well. Hopefully a pumping. Full away end is sold out I think, still plenty of seats in the home end, Hearts trying to fleece their fans at £30 a pop..

Cove went full time when they were relegated and it was a bit of an odd decision. Rather than being able to offer good wages for a part time team, I can’t imagine them being at anything other at the bottom end of wages they can offer for a full time team.

Nice one. Glad I won't be the only Hibby in there giving it large!

My brother in-law seems to think that Maddison, Son, Bissouma, Kulusevski etc. have all travelled up today. Will be first team players mixed with some youth. Plus new signings Bergvall and Archie Gray. Should be enough to deal with that mob.

Id imagine they'll be playing, as they've done nothing all summer.

A well put and accurate argument you make, I really couldn't disagree with most of it. I suppose a lot of it is a generational thing, for example people born more recently would say Frankel was the greatest ever racehorse, older people might say otherwise. Difficult one though, cos Frankel was brilliant and so was/is Messi, but like you, he's not really my favourite.

They are doing that moron mile thing but didn’t think the spurs fans were involved in that. I certainly won’t be! Heading to the Roseburn now. Not sure if there will be any other spurs fans in but it’s the away pub in my eyes so just decided to go there.

Cammy Devlin really is a horrible wee ****. That’s three tackles in a pre season friendly in the first 20 mins the third of which is IMO a straight red. Pre season friendly ya wee welt.

Devlin is an animal and needs put up in the air.
If shankland leaves and tagawa is his replacement they won't be scoring many. He should have a hat trick but missed 3 sitters.
