    Coaching today

I was paying a bit of attention to the Hibs dug out today and noticed a lot of input from the assistants. Great to see that and you could see that David was definitely listening to the opinions Graig Samson seemed to have the most input.

Samson was very vocal both during the game and in the pre match warm ups. Good to see.

I’m sure a reason Aberdeen fans hated him was because they found him too vocal.

Probably them thinking what does he know he’s only a goalie coach.

Think it was something to do with an iPad and then him going mental at one of the players.

Everything I’ve heard from Hibs though is he’s a great guy who is full of life and energy. At the club when Ross was here too so just be decent before getting a job at Aberdeen so just be decent

I’m glad Mackay/Gray clarified his role as an assistant manager explaining he brought a lot more to the table than just a GK coach before the season started. It was something that used to bug me in his first stint here as well (which I admit is petty)

Good to hear the constant shouting and willing players on, from coaches.

See to be honest, I can’t think of a manager and coaching team at Hibs my entire life not doing this.

Maybe noticed it more as was sitting near our bench, but at ER I didn't think it was visible from previous manager

I sit behind the dug out at ER and there have been major differences between how the different manager/coaches have behaved over the years. That’s not to say that constant vocal direction is helpful. Butcher and Malpas, ( especially Malpas) , never used to shut up but most of it was utter pish.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
    He'll die before he's sold.

Eddie Turnbull used to sit in the back of the directors box-if ever he appeared near the pitch the players knew they were in trouble.

There was a thread the same as this one regarding Montys coaching staff after his first few games.

The fawing over our previous coaching team was off the scale.

After he left, Sergio posted videos of his coaching tactics with the Hibs squad onto his LinkedIn page.

The whole ethos was that he and Nick needed players who could play their system. The snag being that on our budget, we can't attract those type of footballers.

Hiring coaching teams wedded to a system isn't for a non-OF SPL side. You need to build your tactics around the players you have in the building.

What was their budget when they were managing in Australia?

Sit in the east and always like to see what type of manager we have

Lennon by far most entertainment, emotional, tantrums
Jack Ross, laid back but encouraging, usually on the next website
Monty, I swear all he did was clap his hands, least inspiring from what I could see.

I think the players could play the system, as is evidenced by Sergio's clips. They weren't asking professional players to do much more than pass and move, which are basics at the level these guys operate at.

The system, and their refusal to recognise that it was fundamentally unsuited to the majority of teams we come up against, was by far the biggest issue.

If anything the team appeared over coached and were very easy for opposition managers to set up against.
