But deary me, can we please stop with Christina Unkel...you're not addressing an American audience who don't know the basics. It's so condescending at times.

That's just lived experience of watching a lot of US Sport, and having been in the US when major tournaments have been on in the past.

Their commentators/pundits treat the audience like idiots when it's not one of their big four.
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Credit to Turkey for a wholehearted display
Turkey, Slovenia, Slovakia, Georgia (off the top of my head) have all played with heart and determination. If we’d played with half of that, we’d have done so much better.

English commentators and pundits have never made the effort to pronounce words in the German language correctly. Can’t think why. Isn’t prejudicial in any way though, according to british tv 🙄 … and of course, they would understand it totally should it be the other way about.

Interesting that the ITV take is a lot less ebullient than the BBC about England, Neville pointing out it was a ‘struggle’ but they ‘deserve credit’ for getting through. I think the BBC have been told to be more positive as an editorial policy.
I watched the first half and couldn’t believe what bxxxxxx Lineker and Co were spouting at half time. Creaming their pants over an another pretty average 45min performance. Definitely been told to spin it more positively for some reason, if that’s so, why bother having people analysing the game. Never bothered watching the rest of the coverage so not sure what the end of game analysis was like.

Does my head in when they pronounce Cucarella as double ll rather than the Spanish y pronunciation not that difficult. Carragher one of the worst

Have watched the Irish coverage most games much more relaxed and no bias towards England. Has been good for my blood pressure i think Ridiculous when BBC have an all English panel at least get someone else to give a bit perspective

Not happy with the result but this is good. Pakistan and India fans put away their differences to celebrate England's penalty at Edgbaston watching the cricket. Farage look away now

Starmer will be delighted by the result. Boosts the feelgood factor across the nation following Thursday's GE.

Yeah of England the team he is talking about. Obviously it won't in Wales, some of NI and most of us. Leaders in countries that win a world cup always get an approval boost, presumably similar for the euros. Hopefully Macron is getting an approval boost next Sunday

Well, mostly in England when it comes to the football obviously (although I think most would acknowledge this England side has always been difficult to dislike) but there's also been a nationwide boost politically with the dead weights of the Tories and the SNP finally being cast aside.

Is this England team difficult to dislike? Am I in the minority then?

They have some players I normally enjoy watching, they are not being used to their best advantage though, ironically I quite like Southgate.

I have no trouble separating the team from the fans and boy do the have some jingoistic part time supporters in amongst some decent football fans that I know, thankfully the bellends only come out for big events to wave their flags and sing the UK national anthem.

Checking in with the English press this morning, the over hyping is continuing and building themselves up for a big crash again when they meet the Netherlands.

Can I get good odds on a Weghorst hat trick? 😁

Any team with Pickford in it is easy to dislike. In all seriousness it’s not a dislikeable England side other than one or two individuals.

I dunno. Truthfully I'm glad guys like TAA and Saka scored. Abuse would've been vile otherwise.

I do not find Phil Foden hard to dislike, though. A diving, moaning rodent. Bellingham has the best PR in the world. Its incredible. Saka been twice as good this tournament.

    Kyle Walker is another bellend.

Think some of Southgates decisions are utterly bizarre and straight up wrong despite them still scraping though. Should've taken another left back, should've sorted his left wing problem months ago and Ben White should be playing every minute considering his club form. Crazy not to apologise and get him back.

Maybe not all of us are consumed by hatred?

A likeable bunch of players and a likeable manager. I have no problem saying that.

When does dislike turn to hatred ffs. When twisted to suit an agenda I guess.

England aren't playing particularly well and have been riding their luck in games though I still see it very much as a game to close to call , could go either way .

    Apologies. Would strong dislike suffice?
