The VAR issue is much bigger than Rangers and Scottish football; it’s killing the sport by altering results. Wolves were robbed at the death yesterday in the EPL. It’s everywhere.
    Whataboutery.

Up here it isn't. It is to one team's benefit and the detriment of everyone else. Us in particular, because we're seen as being wee rivals to the huns and don't have as much power as Celtic.

Let's stop making excuses for them

    Officials achieved their aim.

As for the penalty. Any other team and it’s a booking for simulation.
Including VAR official Nick Walsh: a former ST holder at Parkhead? Why did he want Sevco to win?
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

The Rangers penalty, overturning a booking for diving, was VAR changing the game. Anything after that was just adding to the damage. I didn’t see what happened subsequently; VAR had already spoiled it.

For the sake of Glasgow, a draw was an ideal result.

Celtic levels of paranoia on here

  11. #14530
Nothing much has changed after that. League remains in both teams hands. I’d give the edge to Celtic given the final OF is at Celtic Park.

A lot will depend on the split fixtures: gone are the days where both OF teams are guaranteed to win all other post-split fixtures. I just hope it doesn’t come down to the final OF game to decide it. The carnage in Glasgow will be horrendous.

Nothing I repeat nothing is understandable about that new club or the old club. without the penalties gifted throughout the seasons they are no that much better than half a dozen other real Scottish teams.
As for the mad man in charge, dont rate him at all.
Hate both of them but dont want to say much as could be listed on the new list.
What's 'mad' about him? Whenever I've happened to see him interviewed he seems rational enough. Shame he went to Rangers for sure but he's clearly a good manager.

All things being equal, you would expect the final Old Firm game is precisely what will decide it.

Rangers were at the heart of the biggest cheating scandal Scottish (and probably British) football has ever seen.

I don't think calling out their favourable treatment by referees is indicative of being a nutjob or paranoid...

I know, but both sides have already demonstrated they’re capable of going to Tynecastle, Rugby Park etc and losing.

I am definitely not making excuses for them. Like I said, I switched it off when VAR resulted in their outrageous penalty. However, it’s a fact that VAR’s impact is being felt everywhere it is being used. The EPL, for example, is having terrible problems with it. In principle it’s a good idea, but it’s getting involved when it shouldn’t, and that is creating mayhem.

Athletic Bilbao won their 24th COPA DEL REY beating Mallorca 4-2 on penalties

quite unique as they only field players of Basque origin

only Barcelona have won the trophy more times with 31

First cup win in 40 years and lost 6 finals with most of the defeats fairly recently. Watched it (big fan of finals without Barca/Real) and the winning pen was scored at 12.54am (Spanish time). I imagine the scenes in Bilbao will be wild today. Rumoured1 million along the banks of the Nervion for a barge parade. The stadium was sold out for the beamback from Seville last night.

Probably in a tiny minority but I thought it was a clear penalty. Johnson leaves his leg hanging to catch Silva.
If Silva hadn't spent the rest of the match diving there would be less controversy.

    Agreed.

Funny though that in a similar incident of a player being caught but going down easily involving Martin Boyle V Celtic, Boyle's booking stands and VAR doesn't find reason to overturn the decision and award a penalty......

I liked him turning up at right back there and pinging a beautiful pass 50 yards to the strikers feet. I think hes class, his problem is his defenders.

Man U have clearly decided to target Robertson early on.
