MASSIVE NEWS - DOJ says 60-day rule does NOT apply to Trump trials, because he’s already been indicted

So the Trump federal trials CAN happen even if they run into September/October

Drastically increases odds that Trump is tried — and convicted — before the election in November

    Please be true.

It's scary enough that the US holds so much sway in the world, but it's absolutely terrifying that their only 2 candidates to lead them are old codgers who are obviously losing their cognitive faculties.

I’ve not read the story properly but it looks like trump has tried to sell shares in Truth to pay his fines so he can appeal but hasn’t told he guys who founded it.

    They’re now suing him too.

I’m praying that he can’t pay his fines and the attorney general starts seizing properties

Trump has until Saturday to stump up about $85m for the first of his fines. That will give an early indication of whether he is likely to make the $455m fine by 25th March.
I don’t think he makes either payment?

Alarmingly, everything is pointing to Trump getting the Republican nomination. I don’t think his misconduct guilt and financial burden will hinder his progress against the fierce opposition of sleepy Joe Biden.

He will def get the nomination now unless his legal troubles get in the way.

Biden will beat him in the GE though. And by more than 2020.

Trump wins at Supreme Court stopping states removing him from ballot.

I wonder if he’ll go for compensation. $ 350 million would come in handy.

I think there is a lot of Haley supporters who won’t vote for trump.

It’s normally 50/50 and the floating voters decide the election but no chance the majority of floating voters vote for trump, added with the moderate republicans who might just abstain then I think Biden should be a bit more comfortable than last time

He still hasn't accepted the last result and if and hopefully when he loses, there's zero chance he will accept that either.

It's what happens after that concerns me.

Even if he loses because he hasn’t served two terms he’ll keep popping up like a bad penny until he dies. The grift is too strong for him. What else is he going to do?

I don't think the two terms thing would stop him if he is elected again. He's already said at a few campaign events that 'they'll look in to a third term as he's been treated so unfairly'.

When he was president, he also spoke admiringly about China removing term limits for president so Xi Jinping could stay in office, in a just-putting-it-out-there kind of a way.

I read yesterday that in a Democrat survey in 3 of the swing states (that eliminated previous Trump voters and election deniers so they were hearing from gettable voters, basically,) only about a third had any awareness of the authoritarian threats Trump has made, including suspending or terminating parts of the constitution and being a dictator on Day 1. When presented with his statements, it had a negative effect on their impression of him, which suggests that if Americans who want to hang onto their democracy / don't want to be ruled by a wannabe spiteful and dictatorial King with a revenge lust can get that information out there, it might make a difference. Not a huge survey, but it's both worrying and hopeful... the only thing is, his threats have been very widely reported here. If people who aren't Trump-minded aren't hearing what he's saying now, I'm not sure how you reach them.

A US President can’t change their constitution.

Sounds like Trumps own scare tactics as he talks about going against the constitution practically ever time he speaks.

He said it out loud, with his own mouth. He also said that he would be a dictator on day 1. Also out of his own mouth, on the telly, he has said that he would use the military to crush dissent, and that he would be removing the government's legal personnel - amongst others - and replacing them with loyalists who would do what they were told.

Even Fox have drawn attention, occasionally, to some of this. And there's a clip of Sean Hannity, who's been a big Trump booster, trying to help him out on the retained records issue, along the lines of: - So it's ridiculous to suggest that you'd deliberately take and hang onto these documents, isnt it Mr President?...
    - You betcha I did. They're MINE!

    [They're not. Brief summary:

§ 2202. Ownership of Presidential records

The United States shall reserve and retain complete ownership, possession, and control of Presidential records; and such records shall be administered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. https://www.archives.gov/about/laws/...l-records.html]

He keeps saying these things out loud. Repeatedly. At best, he's a egregious bull*******. At worst, he's a very serious threat, and not just to the US.

Paid the first of his fines today in the rape and defamation case. Good news because at least this woman will get paid.
Still another $400m+ to find by 25th March.

I think it’s abond which had to be paid to allow an appeal. Could be wrong but I think Carroll gets a penny of it…yet

I don’t think he has thr £400 million though, but I have a suspicion he’ll raise it somehow.
