Yeah and also took unwell end of September too

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson missed his team’s Premier League game against Aston Villa on Saturday because he was unwell, the club said.

The 76-year-old Hodgson did not travel to the 3-1 loss at Villa Park, his assistant Paddy McCarthy taking charge in his absence.

“Unfortunately Roy Hodgson was taken unwell earlier today and is not at Villa Park,” Palace said. “Roy sent his best wishes to the team ahead of the match. We send our very best wishes to Roy.”
    Cheers

Was Hodgson not leaving at the end of the season anyway, I think this new guy was probably taking over then but illness has brought it forward.

The former England boss, who is now out of hospital and is said to be 'doing well', has stood aside to enable the Eagles to 'bring forward their plans for a new manager' following a poor run of results.

Hodgson returned to Palace last March following the sacking of Patrick Vieira and ensured the club's safety in the Premier League.

He was handed a new one-year contract in July but this season has not gone to plan, with Palace 16th in the table ahead of this evening's match against Everton.

They were about to sack him on Friday before he fell ill.

Yes I know that but he was only there for this season, I think he was stepping down anyway, unfortunately his illness has helped both parties.

The suggestion was that it hit the media on Weds, without Roy knowing about it which I find shady but yeah, the illness helps Roy with his dignity and Palace don't look that much of the bad guys.

Xabi Alonso probably available at the end of the season and both Liverpool and Bayern in need of a new coach. Should be an interesting race and I suppose there's the possibility that Real Madrid may not want to miss their chance either. Regardless, he's going to be in demand.

That'll suit Kane, I would imagine.

That would appear to be nearer the truth than all the press speculation.

Not sure he'd go to Real Madrid. My money is on Liverpool. Played for them, it's the EPL, and Klopp's announcement. Plus, Bayern are a bit of a shambles, FC Hollywood, the B-movie version.

Tuchel is an odd one. A sort of German Derek Adams.

Played for all three, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern. Depends if he wants a while back home in Spain I guess and of course whether they wanted to replace Ancelotti. I agree though, I'm inclined to think he'll choose Liverpool.

He played more games for Real than any other club.

It'll be an interesting battle for him, I'd imagine Liverpool would be favourites though

    FFS, that's harsh on Tuchel

Listening to a German football expert earlier, he's more than likely to go to Bayern as he's very settled in Germany. I don't think Liverpool or Real take a punt on a manager with 18 months (or so) experience as a manager either at a decent level.

    Madrid would.

I can't see them going with an inexperienced manager to bring on the young players they have tbh especially when they look how it's worked for Barca, but of course you could be right.

John Doolan has taken over as Accrington interim boss after they sacked their manager on Sunday.

I read that as Kris Doolan originally and thought that was a strange move for him 😂

That's one way for Hearts to solve the problem of him being the manager when they play in Europe next season.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.
