Thread: Joey Barton

    Joey Barton

Surprised there isn't already a thread on him. It goes way beyond just football now so thought best to come to the holy ground

What's everyone's thoughts on his relentless rampage? He Started off with the viewpoint that woman categorically should not be involved in the "Mens game" then softened that to say any woman that deserves to be there should and can be

He then went mental for the man utd woman's goalkeeper winning sports personality and has a particular dislike for Eni Aluko (who imo is an awful pundit, but put her alongside dion Dublin, Robbie Savage, kris boyd and rio Ferdinand in that regard)

He's also been sharing winston Churchill quotes and laying in to politicians, ex footballers. Basically anyone and everyone

I don't imagine he'll be getting a job in the dugout anytime soon that's for sure

He probably doesn't realise it, but all he's doing is trying to stay significant.

I think he absolutely realises it. Tried to break through as a pseudo lefty personality about a decade ago. Isn't very articulate as soon as he isn't given the filter of a keyboard, or when he faces a challenge.

Picks easy subjects to be obnoxious as possible about and ends up on that far right wing pipeline.

One of the reasons there's not been a thread already.....

Nobody wants to give him the publicity.

He's got a podcast to promote.

There probably isn't a lot of mileage in yet another mediocre former footballer does his after dinner routine every week format so he's going for the lucrative right wing market.

What started as a rampage against women commentators became a relentless attack on women's football in general (the oh so original I'd score 100 goals a season in the women's game). Now it's a bit of race baiting, COVID vaccine conspiracies, anti cycling, climate change denial, anti mainstream political party rhetoric and the class 'it's just common sense innit' when he offers another inane simple solution to a complex issue. It's like a step by step guide on how to become a GBNews presenter.

I remember about a decade ago he convinced a few people he was a semi intellectual outsider fighting back against some corrupt football machine. I suppose if you are impressed by the ability to use Google to find someone else's words in the form of a quite somewhat suited to a situation then he may well have seemed fairly smart. The last couple of weeks have outed him as a moron and an obnoxious one at that.

He was well suited to Rangers that's for sure.

He knows his career as a manager is done and that there is money to be made by appealing to right wing views on gender, race etc.

Guaranteed he'll be on GB News by end of the year.

He's a weird guy, says gb news is right wing rubbish but then posts right wing war on woke pish. Has posted rubbish about immigration, race, misogyny and more. He then posts hitting out at the tories or Israel, broken clock ect. Think he's just very dim.

His supposed left wing anti woke grift is working though as he's went from 100k followers on twitter to 3 million in weeks. Sad that he'll be making money from dog whistles in the style of 50p Lee

He appears to be very angry at someone or something and can't find a way to resolve it. Very strange man.

It’s all pretty simple. At times of economic hardship it’s far easier to believe that the reason you’re not doing well is because you’re male/straight/white/English, and avoiding the possibility that it may just be down to the fact that it’s down to the individual not receiving enough opportunities simply because they’re not good enough, or just through misfortune or bad luck.

It’s an increasingly easy narrative to sell and “they’re on the telly because they’re a woman” doesn’t take much thought to push, as completely wrong as it is.

There is a debate IMO about class and wealth being a big factor in chances as children from wealthier families can afford to take unpaid internships and more risks however.

I believe he posted in the last few days stating that a football show is now almost always presented with a woman, a black person and a gay person.

He’s been challenged as to how he knows if someone is gay just by seeing them on the tv

he’s an utter welt, anything to cling to the limelight

He seems to have gone full-on-UKIP in the past few days and he's not just talking football now either.

He's correctly identified that there's money to be made in the right wing grift (remember when he used to be a champion for gay footballers?), but doesn't have the tact or intelligence to do it gradually or with a bit of subtlety.

He really is a prick isn't he?

Encouraging a pile on against a 17 year old part time goalkeeper then feigning innocence in a manner about as convincing as a weasel in a hen house. Add in a casual display of homophobia and ableism in his subsequent tweets interspersed with his usual race baiting and you almost have the complete right wing grifter starter pack.

You really have to wonder how someone who was successful in their chosen field ends up being such a total inadequate.

Which has cost him £75k today to settle a defamation case brought by Jeremy Vine who he had rather outrageously suggested had a sexual interest in children.

Good to see that at least some of his bile is coming back on him.

    STATEMENT REGARDING JOEY BARTON:

The news of Joey Barton’s apology and commitment to pay damages and costs is not the final outcome of this case.

After five defamatory tweets, my lawyer offered Barton a chance to settle: pay £75k, plus my costs, and make an apology.

He ignored that offer and posted more disgusting tweets about me, even publishing my home address to his followers.

When I then took my case to the High Court, a judge ruled that TEN of the tweets I complained of were defamatory. Having lost, Barton has returned to the offer we made after tweet 5.

There has therefore been a parallel action on tweets 6-10 and Barton will pay further damages for these. A number of other steps — including statements made in Court by way of apology — are still to be taken, and Barton has agreed to pay my legal costs of all of the claims.

I don’t really advocate violence but there would be something really sweet if someone was to really hurt this cockroach.
