Highway code now requires drivers to give way to pedestrians crossing at junctions. Certainly need to be aware of the pedestrians in the vicinity of corners. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The number of people who seem to be driving about at the moment with headlights on their car not working.
I can understand how you might miss a brake light or whatever (albeit my car is nearly 10 years old and has a dashboard warning if any rear lights go) but surely you must notice if one of your front lights is gone when a significant amount of driving time is in the dark at this time of year?
A new bulb can be got for less than a tenner in Halfords so i don't really get why you'd rather creep around in semi darkness (or worse those people who put on their full beam to compensate).PM Awards General Poster of The Year 2015, 2016, 2017. Probably robbed in other years

Car registration plates being stuck on with double sided tape rather than using some more permanent fitting. We've had this car since January where it was brand new. The reg plate has fell off four times in that year. Dealership not interested.

Locals to Council: we have a problem with people constantly going the wrong way through the one way streets.
Council: we will send someone to have a look.
Me (nicely) to Council man who parked outside my house: excuse me, but you have just come through a no entry and are facing the wrong way. We have asked for someone to come and look at the signs because this is a problem.
Council man: its me they sent.
Councils don't do irony. But if they did...

Having driven back through the city centre after midnight last night, I have two driving pet peeves to report.
- People sitting at traffic lights with their foot on the brake. There's a thing called a handbrake which saves you doing that, and which stops you blinding the car sitting behind you at the lights. BMW x5 I'm looking at you here.
- Uber / private hire drivers driving with their focus on their satnav. Drifting from lane to lane without any mirror or signal activity. Stopping in the middle of Queen Street at 12:30am when they realise they don't know which way to turn. Getting in the wrong lane at York Place lights entering Greenside roundabout eastbound and then drifting across into my lane without (as above) any mirror or signal action.

And to be fair to the guy, he accepted that he had proven our point perfectly.

I’d assume almost any X5 will have both.

ICE cars in EV charging bays. I was at Meadowbank on Thursday, 18 EV bays and every car, apart from mine was an ICE car.

A good few years ago now after a game my and a few mates got a private hire from somewhere in Leith and asked to go to the Royal Mile.
The Glaswegian drivers response was "where is that?", at first we thought he was joking but he was serious and we had to basically tell him what route to take.

I personally couldn’t really care less, it’s no skin off my nose to just tell them what way to go etc but it’s not the first time I’ve had black cab journey like that and my street isn’t exactly hidden away, it’s got 100+ properties, is in the city centre and a couple of shops on it.Last edited by Paulie Walnuts; 19-12-2023 at 10:44 AM.
