A song came on my phone playlist this morning that had me wondering what the best scenes in TV/films are and the songs that made them.
The scene I’m referring to was the ending montage in Scrubs with “the book of love” by Peter Gabriel. It was hilarious, but sad in equal measure because it was the end of a brilliant show (we don’t need to talk about what happened after!).

Cracking thread idea.
An old TV series, but Teachers had an outstanding soundtrack.
More recently, The Leftovers score is spectacular for the series, and Westworld was really good as well.Follow the Hibs podcast, Longbangers, on Twitter (@longbangers)

Peaky blinders soundtrack worked really well - Nick cave, arctic monkeys, Laura marling etc, I can’t remember if it went downhill with the rest of the show in the incredibly **** last series!
Entourage, while not filled with my usual tastes, worked for me too. Actually made me listen to different stuff more just because it was ‘entourage music’.
Something special about the Shawshank Redemption scene with the classical music.
Scorsese does well with his selections too, due to being a big stones fan.Last edited by WeeRussell; 19-10-2023 at 10:56 AM.

I'm a sucker for anything by John Williams, some of the most iconic tunes ever
Shout out to Hans Zimmer as well for the Going for Gold theme tune

The 2005 Honda advert (they updated it a few years later but the version with hot hot air balloon was best IMO) to the Andy Williams song, The Impossible dream.

I'm watching Mr Mercedes on the Disney Channel and it's full of little gems from a wide spectrum of great tunes from the likes of the Ramones, Donovan and the Anti Nowhere League.
It's a decent watch too.

I thought the Great Gatsby score was really good. Worked so well with the mood of the film.
And it meant you didn’t have to listen to the actual music from the time, which is **** 😂"...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

It also showed how similar the beats were no matter the era. Bryan Ferry had a torch song jazz band on the go for a while, I'm sure they were involved.

Anyone who watched Derry Girls ripping off reservoir dogs got a real treat as well, brilliantly scored but of tv.
Gonna throw in Simple Minds in the breakfast club, still gives me chills hearing that song or watching that film."...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

The soundtrack from the film Drive with Ryan Gosling is really good, particularly if you enjoy electronic music.
The film is rubbish

Baby Driver nailed it for me. A perfect blend of action and music.
Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.

The end tracks on The Sopranos were expertly curated.
The Americans and Stranger Things both tapped into that early/mid-Eighties thing well.
A little bit more contemporary and I May Destroy You had a simply tremendous soundtrack. There's only one thing better than a Hibs calendar and that's two Hibs calendars

Ashes to ashes and life on mars both had great soundtracks.

Suits started off with an impactful soundtrack in the earlier seasons but went to generic instrumentals in the later seasons.
I'm a huge fan of the Bosch TV series, and the accompanying role of jazz pieces throughout the soundtrack is a great combination with a grimy LA setting. Similarly, Lucifer always carried an excellent soundtrack with Tom Ellis' versions of some classic songs really adding to many scenes.
In terms of film, the entire Lord of the Rings/Hobbit soundtracks are absolutely incredible for me. In a different style, I'd also add The Matrix, Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar, and the American Pie soundtracks - they captured that pop-punk era and 'coming of age' in the early 00s perfectly.Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

The weight behind the tracks is even heavier when you know the horrors of what happens in the shows."...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

Ludivico Einaudi gets a lots of adverts, highly recommended listening if you’re looking for something to relax you.
Me and a couple of mates spent a night stargazing listening to his tracks and it was a really incredible experience made by the music. The whisky bottle was also nice. 😂"...when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”
