He really is a wee touch of class. Great link up play, can finish and works hard.

Am I right in thinking we have the option to trigger an extra year on his contract? If he continues like this, I’d say there’s a good chance of us doing exactly that. Such a crafty player.

Worked for years on Football League so seen him a lot. Was always underrated and a very good goalscorer. Was pleased when we signed him, if a slight concern about age. But class shows and age isn't what it used to be! Clearly a Brain McDermott recommendation and ALF has been brilliant since joining. Clever player.

Not as far as I am aware……we need to extend his contract or someone will pinch him.

Oh, and just for the record…..I’m not one to say to those who wrote him off (many without even having seen him play) that I told you so…..so I won’t😂

    Grant Holt?
Grant had the vision and the hold up play but his goals return was poor. ALF has it all.

I was not convinced when we signed him as to what he would bring the team. How wrong was I? Think his reading & awareness of the game are excellent and his touch is fantastic.

Most impressive summer signing so far, really surprised how good his all round play is. Intelligent player.

The rumours and whispers about him signing for the last 10 (?) years may be worth it ! Can clearly see he’s still an intelligent player. Add a few goals and we’re laughing !

He could be one of our best signings for a long time.
Really clever player, and a good team player too.
His movement is first class, always looks alive in the box.
    A proven finisher.
He looks like a fit lad, his pace and work rate has surprised me. Puts in a proper shift.
Perhaps he would struggle to put in that effort repeatedly over 90 mins but he must be a cert to feature for 60/30 minutes every game.
By all accounts he’s a good sort behind the scenes too. Clearly someone our younger forwards can learn from.
I’m well impressed. Hopefully get another couple of years out him if he can stay injury free. 🤞
Keep up the good work ALF.

He's a really clever player and will score and assist a lot this season. It's a wee while since we've had such an abundance of talent up top.

Hands up - I was wrong about signing ALF at his relatively advanced footballing age.

He's been class. Able to physically keep pace with much younger lads and often a step or two ahead of them upstairs.

I think ALF (like all of our strikers) will benefit from having a strik partner played alongside him - as demonstrated by our second goal yesterday.

Big fan of ALF, he's scored goals everywhere he's been but still made a much bigger impact than I expected.

A couple of great assists and excellent finishes to his name already. In pre-season I was worried at the prospect of going with him upfront, now I'm hoping he's on the teamsheet.

Still looks fit and strong, combined with a good footballing brain…..very promising for the remainder of this season. I’m sure Vente appreciates having a strike partner of his experience alongside him also.

I thought Le Fondre would be a really good signing, I didn’t think he would be as good as he has been though.

Doidge being so effective has really surprised me, I’d completely written him off.
Pretty much where I was with him was clear he is an excellent footballer with an eye for goal which you don't really lose that nous and experience. Agree about Doidge also.

I was actually pretty worried about how we were going to replace Nisbet. As a forward unit i'm far happier than i was than when KN was here and think we're stronger now. Vente just looks quality, ALF's footballing brain is top notch, Doidge looks back to his best and Youan and Boyle are always dangerous. I always feel we're going to score regardless of who is playing or who is on the bench. Some really good attacking options now.

He plays like a player ten years his junior. Much in the way Ryan Giggs was physically a bit of a freak of someone his age, you forget how experienced he is. He’s so sharp and deceptively quick.

Hopefully he has a few seasons in him if we manage his game time in season 2/3.

Hopefully we get a good number of years from Brian McDermott as well.

I wonder how long term we’ve been looking at replacing LJ. Jeggo, ALF, Vente, Obita all seem like Montgomery style players and even if it wasn’t Monty we directly had in mind, maybe it was his style of play we were planning for.

Having said that, I’m still not completely certain what style of player is an LJ player.

It's not the 90s anymore though. Most of these guys live very clean life's now and provided they avoid bad injuries they can go well into their 40s. Ronaldo might even make it to 50.

He is wildly better than Holt was on the field. Holt hardly scored and never got many assists either as he never got close enough to the opposition's goal. ALF is in and around the danger area all the time and is simply a far better player for us and that is at a higher level. No way of knowing but I suspect both had an impact in teh dressing room and training field.

Great signing for us. Great foil for DV as shown by his lovely assists already this season. Won't start every game but has shown time and time again he can make a positive impact. His experience will be invaluable for the younger guys in the team this season.
