Very much a mix of old and new this week!
Slipknot - Iowa (the old, released 22 years ago today), and Spanish Love Songs - No Joy (released on Friday).Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

This sunny weather has inspired me to listen to Sublime. Had 40 Oz to freedom and the self titled album on. Timeless records.

I’m not a massive Fontaines DC fan but Grian Chatten’s solo album is excellent.

I heard "170" by Anna Erhard on Radio 6 yesterday and it interested me so I listened to her stuff on Spotify and I'm enjoying it.
She's Swiss/French and her accent adds to the quirky lyrics. She has 2 easy to listen to albums although I think a third might be looming.
She's doing a mini tour and I think tickets are free! Certainly I got 2 for the Brudenall Social Club free.

Read an article about this musician that had sadly passed away and been listening to some of his stuff. Don't know how he managed to whistle like this 😳.

Giving George Best by The Wedding Present a blast. It was released 36 years ago yesterday and still sounds amazing.
The bassist and drummer left the band yesterday. They are going to have an ex members list to rival The Fall’s soon.Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.

Stiff Little Fingers , Inflammable Materiel. As debut albums go it’s not bad.

After last weekends gig I've been on a Supersuckers trip this week. They have an extensive and mostly excellent back catalogue of albums.

Ren Gill's new album Sick Boi is looking like it will chart at No2 or No1 this week quite stunning for a totally independent artist who has been in Canada for the last year getting treatment for Lymes disease and therefore not able to promote it. His online following keeps growing and this album is brilliant. A lot of his known stuff on it but some of the new tracks are mind blowing. I preordered the album, got it this week and have only listened to it, nothing else. The album is basically a Hiphop album which harks back to the massive genre defining artists of the 90s with lots of references and homages made. It still has it's own voice and highlights the skills of Ren as an artist. He produces his own beats and his lyrics are simply stunning, check out "Seven Sins" for a masterclass on lyrical weaving. There are a few bangers in there too with Lost all Faith, Masochist and Down on the Beat. Weirdly he is fighting it our with Rick Astley for No1 spot in the charts. This week is the first time I have paid attention to the charts for about 40 years and I am genuinely excited for this guy and hope he gets the top spot.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

There’s almost wee shades of some of their 70s and 80s work. Like you say, you’re not sitting listening to it picturing pensioners.

Hendrix in the West , the original vinyl version. I’ve always preferred live Hendrix albums over the studio albums, this one is my favourite. Who doesn’t love a guitar hero?
