Sad about United. They are going to struggle to get back up. We'll miss their support. Ross bring nothing. Thistle won't bring as much. Haste ye back, if you can.

Leeds get rid of the Yank and still went down, big Sam got a bundle of cash for standing on the side chewing his gum.

Prickford hurt himself there. Started a melee and walked away

Every opportunity between now and final whistle Everton players will throw themselves to the ground and waste as much time as possible

I'm glad Everton stayed up. It's a big club with a terrific support. Having experienced close calls for the past two seasons, they need to ensure they don't find themselves in the same mess next season. Sooner or later they will run out luck. They need change.

I'm not sure they can actually spend, though. I think they are toiling a bit financially and with FFP.

If they can keep DCL fit, they'll survive, hes an excellent striker, but they're a long way from even the likes of Villa and Spurs never mind the big sides.

Villa in me here but tbf Villa are a big side. Everton as well, albeit in different situations. Would love to see a top 6 including Villa, Newcastle and Everton but doesn't look like Everton will be up there anytime soon.

Villa are a big club, but they are a tier below Arsenal, Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool.

I'd agree, though I'd say they're one of the clubs along with Newcastle who could crack that list given their owners being mega loaded and starting higher up in terms of size than most.

Be a very interesting few seasons for both.

Possible, but just as likely to fall away like Leicester have IMO. Finishing 7th/8th etc is one thing, cracking top 4 is a different game entirely.

Liverpool will rebuild. Arsenal have a team for 5/6 years and are looking to spend big time. City are City. United been pretty average and still hitting 70+ points. Villa are a long way off those sides IMO. Would do better trying to win a cup, which emery is excellent at. Newcastle have much deeper pockets than Villa now they are in the championship league. FFP will hold Villa back unless they start generating cash.

Agree its difficult, but City built slowly and Villa have been doing the same. 3rd or 4th richest owners in the league, plenty leeway with FFP due to brilliant sign and sell policy, think people will be very surprised as to just how far they will go. New stadium expansion, recently bought Vitoria in Portugal and starting an MLS franchise as well. Definitely biased but I genuinely believe its a huge possibility IF they spend well, which in the last few years they have.

Emery is rumoured to have 200m in this window, and thatbwas before getting into Europe as well which might help.

Villa could do brilliant and still finished 6th or 7th, though. Breaking top 4 is harder than ever. And now they need to handle the extra games, which West Ham, Leicester etc struggled with.

In fairness I'd argue Villa's squad depth is already better suited to playing in Europe than either of those clubs. Add in players rumoured to be joining and its a very, very strong squad

    Red card for Barnsley

  25. #21174
Barnsley should have had a penalty and then get a very soft red card. VAR fail again

The ref not asked to check either incident

    Absolutely awful call.

Red card in a final for that. Even VAR viewed it.

What a farce. Mistimed it, went for the ball, no way was that "dangerous".

Even worse after that stick on pen that wasn't given.

I'm not even convinced that should be a yellow. He fresh aired an attempt to play the ball.

  30. #21179
Shocking decisions to give a red card there. Atypical of a ref not having a clue about football and the lack of intent there.

Agree. If the ref knew anything about the game of football he'd have agreed too. Hope Barnsley can do this now, would be great for the Cadden family after Saturday.
