A situation with 3 teams fighting for the title with weeks to go is refreshing. And certainly better than anything we get in the mens game.

There is no reason City can’t continue to press the other two. They strengthened last season after losing out to Rangers and are clearly a well run club. There is only so much investment Rangers / Celtic can make that will make a difference. They are never going to offer the wages that the top world players are now getting, and the current salaries aren’t light years away from what Hibs are paying. 20k v 30k.

Unlike the mens game I’ve no real issue with who wins the league and these teams for me don’t have the same back story and tribalism that the men’s team do. (despite some people trying to recreate that). All that matters is the product improves and we get more fans. What the top 3 are doing will only help that to happen.
The lack of a massive difference in wages is a reason why I think getting the right coach in could make a big difference, don't particulary think Malky Thomson is a master of the art for example, just ok bit staunch and better players. Hearts is an example of a good coach improving the squad and their performances, although boring so don't want that exactly!

The main worry for me in trying to improve/grow the game is the attempts to bring in the worse elements of the men's game in Scotland becoming more common. I'm thinking the Hearts 'ultras' at the ER game earlier in the season as an example

The ultras is an odd one. It appears it’s only the clubs that want to pull in that type of support. Mainly to raise the atmosphere. But they’d have to be deaf to realise it’s not family friendly chants. Plenty Up the Ra chants at that game last night.

Sadly the women's game in Scotland will end up as a two horse race between the bigot twins. Games between them will also deteriorate into the hate filled bigot fest that the mens is as well. Quite sad to see and shows how much of a blight on Scottish society they are

ah well FT 1-2, celtic would have been glad to hear the final whistle after conceding with just two minutes remaining and our girls so very nearly got the equaliser with the last kick of the game with the celtic keeper saving down at her right hand post

elsewhere FT Motherwell 2 Spartans 3

    HT Hearts 0 Rangers 4

Hibs played well today. 2nd goal was very poor but they are down to almost no players. Surely got to be a couple of youth players that could even be on the bench.

Chelsea win the women's FA Cup.

The crowds the women's game attracts in England are extraordinary. Sold-out Wembley today and I noticed the Emirates was sold out for a recent Arsenal European tie. The success of the Lionesses must be a big boost I guess.

Yeah I don't get that at all. Surely you want them in the event of further injuries and ending up with being players down

Anyone else think it is weird the Finance Director is the Women’s Team’s General Manager?

Not really, the head of Liverpool women is also the head of comms at Liverpool FC

    Had to happen.

My gut feeling is the next coach will be someone from outisde the Scottish game, but I base that on nothing at all

Fair enough. I would have thought given the finance team seems quite small and he appears to be quite hands on that the FD role would take up all of his time.

Noted that DoF was very involved in recruiting for female teams at his previous clubs...and has already been watching this season. Will be interesting to see what happens there now. The recent decline couldn't go on

This has been a disappointing season so I'm hoping the change of manager together with fewer injuries will see an improvement next year.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

A sensible decision. A very disappointing season overall. Hopefully a fresh approach gets us back up above them.

Grant Scott was at a recent game but he flitted about a fair bit in recent years. The obv one will be Joelle but a risk going for someone with no experience. I think this appointment will be a good temperature gauge for how serious they are going to take the women’s team for the next few years.

I’ve got no doubt he did his best though.

His time more or less coincided with the ugly sisters pumping in cash and even Hearts increasing their budget.

Hibs were no longer the destination of choice for many players, and will probably be unable to crack into the top 3 now.

Important bit of context. Not everyone is a Mourinho and the guy will have sacrificed a lot of his spare time to do the role. We have also lost loads of good players i think. Should be thanked for that

I think I took in between 12 and 15 women's games this year and I always thought we looked less tactically aware and under coached compared to other sides of a comparable level. You expect it against the 3 Glasgow sides but against Hearts and even the likes of Spartans we never really seemed to have a coherent identity whilst they looked comfortable in what they were doing. Obviously the injuries played a part in that but it's not a complete excuse. I'm a big critic of over coaching too but there has to be a balance.

The fact this has been on the agenda since Christmas time speaks volumes really. A hard decision as DG seems a decent guy who gave it his all but women's football is kicking on again and we need to make the right decisions even if they are tough ones.

One of the major things that has to happen on the womens side is fixing the academy. Its been a shambles for years now and a revolving door when it comes to Academy Mgrs. I believe the new appt has a kid in the academy so that should at least ensure some continuity. Hibs have been guilty of just assuming kids would come to Hibs in the past and unfortunately that's not been happening and the best youth products have been going to the other clubs in the east (or worse going to teams over in the west). Hearts again unfortunately have stolen a march on Hibs in this area.

Finding a constant training base is important. Ensuring the best players are promoted through the youth sections, and then ensuring there is a pathway to the first team is vital for a sustainable model. Hibs cannot keep buying in foreign players. Especially ones that clearly arent good enough for this level. Although I keep hearing the current model is sustainable? Would be good to understand that model.

There are plenty young players out there that are not quite getting full games at their parent clubs. That's the players we need to be going for.

This season we've seen the impact of that, a younger Hearts team, and an inability on our part to even put out a full match day squad for months

A change of manager should improve the team but they won't gain more than 1 league place until Glasgow City are inevitably blown away by the OF and float down towards us.

Probably, but a better coach in the League Cup final would also have given us a fighting chance this season.

No reason for City to float down. If you can raise a couple of 100k in Scotland you can run a professional outfit giving you a chance against any team in Scotland. The Old Firm investment is being massively over blown. City are top this year on merit and that's after a couple of years of investment in the old firm teams.

The OF have only just begun.
They will keep raising their budget until they blow City away.

TBF that's just an assumption. There is not much profit in it for the Old Firm at the moment. They would need to invest 7 figures to start even making a dent in the UWCL or other games on the International stage. They are only getting a couple of hundred fans so they aren't going to just chuck money at it. I honestly don't think we will see much bigger investment at the moment.
