Started watching The Power on Amazon Prime, quite an interesting idea, based on a best selling and award winning book. Decent cast and compelling story so far. Based in the USA, Lagos, UK and Moldova it follows various women who have gained a new organ that gives them a power. It'll be interesting to see how it develops. Worth a watch, so far.

Women already possess something that does that for them. 😉

Just got round to watching the last of us, really enjoyed it, never played the game and have nothing to reference it against but as a stand alone TV series it was superb, hopefully a second season is in the pipeline

That's good to read. I was wondering how it would sit with people who haven't played the game.

On another note, play the game, it's brilliant!

Funnily enough I have been looking at the trailers for the games and quite fancy it, will have to check if it is on game pass

Unfortunately not on Game Pass, unlikely to ever appear due to the Sony connection.

Makes sense, so did the TV series follow the game faithfully and was the casting a good choice

Season two is confirmed and will be based on the Last of Us 2 game, some of that game creeped into the first season of the TV show. Second season will be the last unless Naughty Dog are going to surprise us with a 3rd game, Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog has hinted that will happen.

To answer your other questions, the TV series followed the game quite closely, in fact sometimes to the actual framing of shots, Episode 3 (Nick Offerman episode) was made up by the TV writers and Episode 7 (Ellie and Riley episode) was a DLC on the original game. They introduced the town where Joel found Tommy in this season but the town didn't really feature until the 2nd game

Casting caused a bit of controversy, many thought Bella Ramsay was wrong for Ellie but I think they were proved wrong. The origin cast from the game appeared in the show but as different characters. The actor who played Joel actually played James in E8, Ashley Johnston who played Ellie in the game played Ellies mum in E9, Marlene, play by Merle Dandridge was played by the same actor in both game and TV show. Laura Bailey who played Abby in Last of Us 2 game was one of the nurses in E9 of the TV show.

I cannot wait for the second season despite knowing how the second game goes!!

I've been rewatching Billions from the start - it's so incredibly slick in its production, helped by an all-star cast and a pretty compelling storytelling prowess.
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Anybody else watched The Curse on All4? It's actually so bad, it's funny for different reasons than initially imagined I'd suppose.

Some great Hibs references again in this series. Starting with the code for the safe.

New series of Black Mirror announced for release in June. Some big names are involved; Salma Hayek, Aaron Paul, Rob Delaney, Josh Hartnett and the inclusion of John Hannah and Himesh Patel suggests there will be at least 1 episode set in the UK this series as well.

Such a nice feeling when you realise years of education has actually borne fruit.

I saw a program listed last week about One Foot in the Grave and it reminded me that it’s a program I’ve always found hilarious but due to it being on tv when I was quite young I’d only ever caught the odd episode. Checked iPlayer and the whole box set is on there. I’d forgotten how funny it is. Considering it’s over 30 years old it’s aged really well.

The thing I always find funny about One Foot in the Grave is that Richard Wilson was 53 when it started. At the time he seemed perfect for a just retired grumpy old man. In reality he was almost as close to the age I am now as he was to 65.

Hmm not for me I’m afraid. Binned it after two episodes.

My list of gripes is very long but the one I couldn’t get my head around was the starting premise of the whole thing. That there was a thought an aircraft carrier MIGHT have been hit with an anti ship missile by the Iranians but no one could say if that actually happened or not (too busy fishing bodies out of the water allegedly)…like these ships just blindly pooter about in the Gulf off the coast of Iran on their own.

That along with the the highly stylised US format, the ‘funny’ or ‘quirky’ aides all the way down to the state of the ambassadors hair most of the time just made it way too annoying to watch for me.

I've been watching it. Not as good as the original series, but still addictive. I think there's also a Narcos Dublin or something!

It's a series on Sky Documentaries, quite a decent watch.
