We don't know what deal he has been offered. I know others in the squad are turning down contract offers that are derisory, minimum wage stuff.
    I don’t know so couldn’t comment.

Laidlaw has been courted by clubs down south for 2/3 years at this stage in any case.

I’d have loved him to stay and play for Hibs. Something that Johnson was lauded for at his old clubs was developing young players, we’ve seen very little of that so far.

For about the millionth time. They are all offered the same contract once their two year initial deal expires. I would guess most on here agree with that principle.

Many people, not just 18 year olds, work for minimum wages. In that respect Hibs are no different from lots of employers ( although most people won’t get a signing on fee or the lure of pay increases based on performance).

If they can find better elsewhere, good luck to them. I would guess that the money offered at Hibs is as good as any other side in Scottish football.

I’ve never noticed a huge exodus of young players from ER who are seeking a better deal elsewhere. The one that springs to mind (Conor Young) has found their career on a downhill trajectory since he left for the “big money”.

I’m wondering who else will be leaving, aside from Laidlaw, O’Connor and Aitken? Those are the names regularly mentioned on here.

Hibs didn't offer him a new contract so he had no option but to move

We got a five figure transfer fee for him. Turned out ok in the end for us I'd say.

He still had 1 year remaining on his contract when he moved.

Highlights here of the Newcastle United game for anyone that didn't see them . Think we have a new freekick specialist .

Delferriere won't be given a chance under Johnson, clearly the lad has talent but isn't even on the bench as an option come game day.

He’s one I really find baffling. Came in to the team in pre season and did well, looked the part and played iirc as a right back and centre mid - maybe even in the same match but I can’t be certain.

Then disappears on loan and we have now signed 3 players who can play in a defensive midfield role (CJ, Jeggo and Kenneh) and also signed Miller as a right back. I’m not saying that he could have filled both roles, or either role, entirely but for all his plaudits for promoting youngsters I don’t get why he hasn’t had even a sniff of a first team appearance.

Season 21-22 he played 5 games for Standard Liege and 10 ganes on loan for MVV, so has played at a decent standard.

Why is that the case (when did Delferriere return from injury) ? It strikes me as bizarre that we have players that could contribute but are wilfully being omitted from the squad (laidlaw aside, that I get)

Was seemingly a stand out then injured but he looked better than that level, only going by reports.

he got sent back from FC EDINBURGH, with the other 2, because they didn’t see him as being part of the team.
Hibs said that the 3 came back for development, one was sent back to america, one went to queen of the south permanently. Allan has played most of the development games since, and been inconsistent but mostly fine.

He definitely appears to be improving, and he’s got a good attitude.

Nah, he got sent back because we've/theyve terminated the agreement between clubs. There was a fall out behind the scenes between clubs hence all loan players coming back from Edinburgh and not sending any back out.

I think it was a dispute regarding training schedules.

It’s been like that since year dot with loan signings to part time clubs
Loan clubs want them to train on their nights in, and they usually do team shape on say a Thursday night
Hibs want them to train as normal with them through the week

There may have been a dispute over training, hibs said at the time it was for the 3 players development.
2 of them lasted days before they then left the club.
That doesn’t sound like they were very good, especially johnsone
Allan did play more games than the other 2, however he got booked almost every game he played, and very rarely lasted the 90 minutes, often he came off injured
FC EDINBURGH did not want them to stay.
If you check the FC EDINBURGH stats before january, you can see this information.
Mabye the truth is somewhere in between.
    🤔😄👍🏻

Even though Newcastle u23 don't seem to be as good as other Premier league u23s from the league tables a very good result.

A good season for the Development squad with the reserve league title I'm sight and some great European adventures and I'm hoping a few will be more featured next season in the first team.

U18 is a very young team next season so let's hope the group can do better next year as most will still be eligible.

Still contracts for Josh and Ethan not been sorted out and Jacob and Rudi should be at the u17s euros for Scotland in the summer.

It was the Newcastle U21 side, they had a lot of younger players who haven't played for the U23 side yet. Their U21 side is not having a god season and sit 9th in a table of 11, but like you say it is still a good result against a premier league youth side

Thanks for that, I should start reading things a bit better from now on.

I do think a lack of games and rumors that Hibs didn't want to let anyone go in January because of the European run, we have a few good talents at both levels but they just need first team football playing vs men.

People keep wording it so it sounds like Hibs are in the wrong. Hibs have offered them the contract, the ball's in the laddies courts they don't want to sign.
