it was actually Kinghorn that had the two boots on the wrong feet today bud :(
but i'm quite sure Russell would have kicked that one at the end, two very poor misses indeed
the amateur ****-up between Van Der Merwe and Ritchie led to the winning OZ penalty though

Russell has issues no doubt but he's world class and we won't pick or play him cos the coach doesn't like him. Its pathetic.

I don't actually mind Kinghorn as a back up option, but he's not even half the player Russell is.

That's also also why Stuart Hogg and Jonny Gray couldn't be selected.
As for the stand off position, then I'd play Ross Thompson of Glasgow Warriors long before Kinghorn.

Townsend has wasted this generation and needs to go.

Really felt for Kinghorn yesterday - had an exceptional game with his dummy pass to set up Smith for the first try and his run and juggling skills to score his own try were briliant - as good as Finn is, he wouldn't have had the pace to do that! He certainly shouldn't be given kicking responsibilities. He plays at 10 for Edinburgh and he's very good at 10 for Edinburgh, but we have Boffeli to deal with kicking duties.
Townsend clearly has a problem with Finn, and his choice to preserve his ego over picking the best possible players is going to cost us - to say Finn needs to show form when he's done what he has the past 2 weeks, while you have some players in the starting XV yesterday who've maybe played half an hour this season is laughable.
I've wanted Toonie out for a good few seasons now but sadly, I also think he'll get to the World Cup before any reset takes place. It's hard to stitch my own back with these shaky hands
But even harder to accept the scars you left were planned

New Zealand captain Sam Cane is ruled out for their tour after picking up an injury against Japan yesterday
they struggled a bit against japan yesterday in a close 38-31 win, interesting how they fare against the Welsh next saturday, Wales haven't beaten the all-blacks since 1953Last edited by cabbageandribs1875; 30-10-2022 at 12:32 PM.

Or else I'll slag Blair this week instead
Of course, if Townsend actually gave a **** about Scotland rather than his own ego, Russell would be starting. It's a joke.

6 penalties already... 3 offside.
Total bollocks. Discipline is a joke under Townsend.

Huge improvement in Scotland's discipline in the 2nd half. 28-12 with 6 minutes to go.

i feel the players have to take responsibility for the offside ones, there's only so much a coach can do, the players know not to go offside :(

I see yon English knob is ripping into Townsend again on BBC online re Russell's exclusion.
From what I have heard apparently there is a toxic atmosphere in the squad whenever FR is there. Doesn't matter how good a player you are, if your presence has a detrimental affect on the overall squad wellbeing, you shouldn't be there. Ca va sans dire.

I'm not buying that Finn Russell is the problem. He's not a problem at his club. He's a maverick, I'll buy that but he's world class. We don't have the pool to leave that talent out.

I agree he's world class - but only some of the time and not often enough by far to be real world class. He has had as many anonymous games and cock-ups for Scotland as match-winning games. And re current league form in France and turning things round, he's been playing against lower ranked teams. I'd far rather Kinghorn starts at 10 on Sunday with Hogg as cover.

They'll have a much better chance of winning games with Russell at 10. They won't always do so but they'll have a better chance.
I don't disagree that he's had bad games and wild moments but he should be playing for Scotland. Anything else is denying us the chance at having a match winner in the squad.

didn't watch it but......i may now :)
FT England 29 Argentina 30
i'm reading Boffelli had another great game
i'm not understanding the points count on the BBC though, according to them he got one try, 6 penalties and two conversions which of course would be = 27
and Carreras got one try=5
= 32
Tries: Boffelli, Carreras Pens: Boffelli (6) Cons: Boffelli (2)
what am i missingLast edited by cabbageandribs1875; 06-11-2022 at 04:37 PM.

this is where I am (respectfully disagreeing with Greenbeard), FR being in the team gives us our best chance of winning matches, every excellent result under GT has heavily featured FR, whilst also acknowledging he’s had poor games too. Even the Lions looked a better side when he was on the pitch.
whenever I’ve seen Russell play, his teammates seem to be fine with him at worst, often much more so. Ultimately GT’s job is to win rugby matches with Scotland, not having FR in the mix is damaging that aim. He looks especially ridiculous trying to claim FR isn’t there due to form, whilst not only is FR tearing it up at club level (I take Greenbeard’s point about less than stellar opposition but you can only play who’s in front of you), but he’s also selected a Flyhalf who has hardly been on the pitch this season. I suspect we’re seeing the latter stages of GT’s tenure as Scotland coach

I'm pretty certain that GT will have taken counsel from his other coaches and captain/senior players group. They must be onside with his current thinking. But if they turn against him, I agree his days will be numbered. That would be sad.
And BTW I have heard it suggested that FR's non-selection is influenced by his father's dismissal hoo-ha with the SRU. What absolute nonsense.

Townshend was a terrible appointment and I've said it since the minute that it was floated. We got rid of one of the best coaches in world rugby who was improving EVERY aspect of scotlands performances and replaced with a coach who had one good season at Glasgow. We should have kept Cotter and if Townshend left Glasgow for France or wherever so be it. I'd get rid now as our world cup is going to be **** again with him in charge.

Kinghorn is not an international class 10. Hogg is not a 10, full stop. Finn Russell is the most talented 10 this country has ever produced, there is nobody that even comes close in the pro era. You could argue Rutherford but it was a different game back then. To suggest that we can afford to leave him out in place of a winger trying to play 10 with cover from a full back is absolutely insane.
The fact that Townsend has been unable to manage Russell and ensure he is firing for Scotland is on him. Russell hasn’t had any issues what so ever with any other coach in his career - yet Townsend has fallen out with him and Hogg, our best players.
Sense now seems to have prevailed with Finn back in but it won’t be long before Townsends ego and stubbornness causes another issue. He needs sacked if we are to have any chance of avoiding another pool stage exit at the RWC.
