The Prime Minister is right not to go to COP. The cost of living won’t be solved in Sharm el Sheikh where each hotel room for the conference is £2,000 a night

For balance, my friend…The Prime Minister is WRONG not to go to COP. Global warming is the biggest crisis facing our planet and net zero creates many 1000s of jobs which is good for the economy. COP in Glasgow was most successful ever… but don’t expect media to report that

Seems he is a liar ...

Rees-Mogg to Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday: “Boris Johnson will certainly stand.”

Rees-Mogg today: “His campaign started well but then ran out of steam. This was clear by Sunday morning, when my slumbers were disturbed by the great man himself prior to the Kuenssberg programme.”

I am astounded by the people saying that it's ok to bring Braverman back into government because she used her private email deliberately as a political weapon against Truss.

FFS, that's much worse than her just being careless.
It would be a sacking for a low level Civil Servant and that would be one with less sensitive documents. It is perhaps worse than her evil twin being let off with bullying but as a Public Servant and Union rep it really grinds my gears what Ministers get away with and the toils that their employees face day to day

Correct, especially since she acts as the very top of the home office, which includes civil servants and police officers etc who, as you allude too, who be sacked but probably criminally prosecuted for what she did.

It's shameful but they don't feel shame.

    Absolutely this.

I've just finished a book called Irish, about the influx and subsequent influences of the Irish, both Catholic and protestant, into Glasgow.

A lot of stuff I didn't know. Edinburgh hibernian gets an honourable mention when it comes to formation of the Keltic by brother Walfrid.

There seems to be a consistent attempt to deny anyone is motivated to vote a particular way because of racism, when it’s clearly some peoples strong motivation, as it would be if your priority was the NHS, or the environment, or low taxes. I don’t know why anyone would deny something so evidently true. A consistent 20-25% of us, regardless of wider societal change, just don’t like the ****ing *****.

    Or the Bl**dy Poles...

It's a toughie to answer, the levelling up illusion, the expectation that as the new breed of tory they might get their snout a bit nearer the trough?

    That's worked out well.

What about all the Tory voters in Edinburgh, or a racist from Glasgow. Nationalism is a load of pish and dangerous. Good guys and pricks everywhere

I'm referring to a trope that members of the Scottish branch of the Labour Party deployed all the time in the 60s to 90 to keep the Scottish working class vote on their side.

There's still a few of them at it!

I've got more in common with a [insert working class occupation here in a part of north England that voted for Brexit and then for Boris Johnson] than I have with someone living a different way of life in the heedrum hodrums.

That was a regular argument put at me by "internationalist " Labour folk back in the day.

A third of Scots approve of the Rwanda policy, a quarter voted tory in the last election. Independence won't get rid of that. This othering of people is bad. I want Independence to get rid of the flawed corrupt Westminster system. I don't want it because Scots are better or doesn't have racists

Another fawning Sunak piece in the times about how smart he is. It says he was instrumental and intelligent to stop the lockdown at Christmas that Scotland had. It turned out in hindsight that was correct.

It fails to ****** mention he apposed every lockdown including the first. If we followed him with that business only approach literally hundreds of thousands would be dead. He brought covid deniers to talk to cabinet. Thank god boris shaken by being hospitalised after shacking everyone's hands like a tit, apposed them and listened to Whitty and valance.
